Re: where can i find a outlaw hood

Do you really need a 4" cowl hood? The hood only needs to be tall enough to clear the induction/air cleaner system. If a 2 or 2-1/2" cowl will clear then there's no advantage to using a 4" plus a smaller cowl will increase your visibility.

You could also buy a cowl to install on your factory hood. Try to find a 82-83 fiberglass hood and graft it on.

Well if he wants a real outlaw hood, he should be going right to a 6" cowl.

i had to put a 4inch hood on my old iroc to clear the carb/air cleaner i thought it looked great , but dam i got tierd of it real fast with as much street driving as i do visibility is horrible.

on my rs i have a 3inch cowl hood , measures 3 inch in the middle and 2.5 on the sides i think thats the perfect hood

i couldnt imagine trying to drive withe a 6 inch outlaw hood

dont get me wrong i could still see out of it , though my gf had some issues driving it ,but u deff notice the 4 inch hood blocking some of ur view

im still wondering how bad my 4-71 blower is going to stick out of the firebird hood lol , prolly end up sticking a 6 inch cowl on that and cutting the hole for the blower/scoop in that

Re: where can i find a outlaw hood

My old car had a 4" cowl on it, I didn't have any problems at all with visibility.

I have never liked when people have stuff sticking out of a cowl, always seemed to look much better if they would have used a flat hood. Don't get me wrong it you car do what you want, I'm just saying I wouldn't do it if it were mine.

i agree to a point though not all blown cars look good with the blower sticking out of a cowl hood thats been cut but ive seen others that just look damn perfect with the cut cowl hood

my problem is im sure the blower will barley be out the top of the flat hood (prolyl have the upper 2-3 inches of the blower sticking out) but the injection manifold and scoop will be , so ill have to cut a big hole with the flat hood

with a 3/4 or 6 inch im thinking most of the injection manfold can be covered and just the scoop will stick out

more then likley ill mock up the cowl part of the cowl hood with carboard and see what it looks like before i get a hood and cut it up

if it wasnt a 3.4L v6 with a blower on it id just clean up the engine bay real nice and leave the hood off , atleats with the hood most ppl will thinks its a blown v8 under the hood lol

the blown v6 is a side project , my iroc comes first
