T56 to Auto first time out..

Went about how I figured..
Lost about .3 motor only so far with the Auto.. 10.3 to 10.59 - 60 ft from 1.40 to 1.54 on T-Brake 4k stall. Mph from 131 to 127

On spray I Picked up .04 From 9.35 best to 9.31 best That was mostly being able to take all delay out of activation.. and not deactivating on shifts at all. 60 ft went from 1.32 best to 1.30 best with auto so far.. MPH Sucks from 147 best to 143

Also switched from 4.1 gear to 3.42 gear with Auto.. Good thing to as the 12 bolt pinion had some nice damage. Car also gained 35 lbs or so (15 of that may have been mine) Also added power steering back on.

Stay tuned, more spray to come now I suppose..

Also on a side note - Running 9.31 with auto was comperable to driving through a scenic park - was the most boring 9 seconds compared to the 6 speed where I hit 3 gears in 4 seconds.

Re: T56 to Auto first time out..

cant remember which trans you put in... th400?
who did your converter?
where this setup will really shine is adding more nitrous. 60's will fall into the 1.2's and you probably have plenty of headroom on topend with the 3.42's whereas you might have been closer to topped out with the other setup. (i think you run a 28" dia tire, right?)

the auto is more boring for sure. but it can be a good thing once you start going 8's. manual trans might be a little to exciting at that point.

So, all that after a highway gear swap along with the auto? That's still pretty good for highway gears!

It's a th400, I bought it with converter that came out of a thirdgen spraying heavier than me.. It's an art car with billet baloon plate 4k stall. Seems to be stalling around there.. I am currently bringing in spray at 85%, I plan to up it to 100% next time out if hooking. Yes it is a 28" - I left myself room to trap 160.. Right now I was going through around 6400 @ 143 - I used to go through 7100 with t56/4.10s at 147 ish..

Diggler, can I 2 stage a single plate? Do they make a Y jet fitting for that?

Also - Upgraded front brakes to LS1 for $100 and finally put on a line lock - Huge change from the LT1 brakes - And not heating rears probably help.

the lower rpms through the traps could explain some of the lost mph.... and that converter might start working better with more nitrous, if its more suited to the big shots. so there might be 2 areas of improvement in the near future. more nitrous would help both.
what plate do you run? i believe nos does T fittings into a single plate to make a 2 stage. might can buy their 2 stage upgrade kit for the cheater plate? (i cant remember now)

Well the car makes peak at 6100, so I assume it should be much better off at 6400 than 7100.. Who knows, seemed sorta humid - DA might have not been great.

As for plates I am using a Zex Perimeter plate - But also have a cheater plate if needed.. Went to the Zex last year..

Sounds like good news, planning on more spray so hope your correct.. Should get better.. I'll call Holley and ask about the"T", thanks!

did it peak at 6100 on the dyno? a cam swap might pick up a lot, too!

Yeah that was on Dyno with T56.. I cam could help some with RPM band, or retard mine a few degrees.. Will think about that one, really want some AFR 245 heads.. But also want a big turbo.. Wish list goes on.. Also some 1 7/8 or 2" headers would be hlpful with usable rpm.

Rolling right along for that kind of "wholesale" changes. - I'm sure there's a lot more on the table yet, as one weekend with this set-up vs how long you've dialed on the manual set-up.

Yes, they make "Y" jet fittings that have 2 jet holder fittings in with a single 1/8" npt outlet to screw into a plate. - They work to an extent, but are diminishing returns with bigger kits as you can still only flow the total of the single entry plates' design.

Thank You! I feel OK about the times, Will feel better when It goes 8s I suppose.
Would you happen to know where to find? Searched summit for a while last night and could not find.. I did find a 1" 4150 2 stage plate for $165 on racing junk.. May buy that, but would rather the single plate now as I do plan to exceed 400 HP yet..

Re: T56 to Auto first time out..

Nitrous outlet has a y block fitting like that, has 3 ports for fittings of your choice. One can be 1/8 npt to the plate and other 2 could maybe be jet holding fittings? Could work

you could also just get another cheater plate/noids and stack it on the other cheater you already have.... that would probably work much better.

Re: T56 to Auto first time out..

Not sure if you could buy a wet nozzle and a bung and place a 100hp jet up in the intake elbow or in front of tb. Distribution may or may not be ok?

Idk if you have hood clearance for two plates

Yeah, I thought of stacking my Cheater and my Zex - But space is sort of an issue - My TB is right on the hood right now.

I found the fittings - Nos said it's fine as long as of course I do not try to exceed the plate limit - Which is 400 I think.

this would be a pretty good option too. run your big power through the zex/cheater plate and stick a nozzle in front of the tb with a small shot. could leave on a 100, then have a ~200 come on with a timer or whatever.

I did consider that - Actually almost bought a nozzle few weeks ago as that was the initial plan.. That still may happen, But I was concerned of the distribution..
