HIGH compression e85 guys come on in :)
Building a 13.5:1-14:1 comp LS1 e85 carb engine for my 84 z28, t56 car, hoping to run in the tens on motor and idk what to expect when I give it the 300 shot I'm planning on. Just wanna hear from other guys with gen1,2,3,4 small blocks that are running 12:1 and higher compression e85 Cambo's and what kinda power and times y'all are putting down. Hard to find any LS engines on line with steep compression ratios to see results from. Figured it'd be cool to hear what kinda power you gen one and two guys are seeing as well. Now discuss 😊

I'm running a gen1 350. 13.8-1 comp with ross pistons and a lightened stock forged crank. I'm presently considering having my 23 deg dart heads angle milled, as the e85 can still handle more compression. TH400 with a brake and 4:10 gears. I'm running a 1050cfm 4150 style carb I built myself using mostly proform and quickfuel parts. Use a wide band gauge for tuning because its very hard to read plugs, as it burns so clean. Best is a 10.9 so far N/A with traction/suspension issues. If I can get the suspension sorted out I think it should do 10.5 consistently without any more changes to the car. The car is also regularly street driven. It's a lot of fun on the street!

Re: HIGH compression e85 guys come on in :)
i'll tell you more about my experience with compression and e85 later this year.
your goal is obtainable with less engine than you proposed though, so it should have no issues with 10's with what you're building.

I'm watching yours closely Matt, have been for a long time, sucks the T56 didn't work out :/ hope I have a better experience!! My build isn't going as fast as I want so its motivational hearing what similar combos are doing!

What's your race weight and what kinda rear tire/suspension you running?

My buddy street drives and street races a s10 pickup. Was a 434 sbc, mid 13:1 comp i believe. Sprays a ton of gas on it. 350-400 shot. E85 just fine

im hoping to be around 3200 wo/driver, that would put me around stock weight with all tubular chromoly suspension and cage with a/c and heat, full interior etc. nice to see something very similar. gives me a idea of what to expect.

Nice! I'm kinda hoping on low 10's on motor and low 9's/high 8's on the 300 shot. Never messed with nitrous before so I might be a little optimistic. Especially since I'm more concerned about how it's going to run on motor than spray. I don't want to give up a bunch of power on motor with a nitrous grind cam, but I don't want to not run spray and not be competitive at events. I guess that's all a different thread for a different day though and I need to do some research on all that before I start asking a bunch of rookie questions.

My buddy's old 406 sbc was a 500 whp car all motor and 775 on spray. Ran 9.3 at like 147 i think with his t56. 93/94 trans am

Re: HIGH compression e85 guys come on in :)
I read somewhere that my car stock curb weight was like 32xx, that's with the all iron L69 and t5. So I'm hoping with a full tubular chromoly suspension and cage and the LS1 that I'll end up around that weight. I'm keeping heat and air and it will be a full weight car. With a t56 witch adds a few pounds. So I'm hoping with all the weight loss and weight adding with trans and cage that I end up the same or lighter. I would love to be 3000 w/o driver. I'm 290 right now, gotta go on a diet lol

Re: HIGH compression e85 guys come on in :)
i am a monster dealer and have used monster in the past, however i am using a real adjustable race clutch from Black Magic this time around. clutch management is easily the most over looked part of this whole deal, and is also easily the most important part.

Re: HIGH compression e85 guys come on in :)
I plan on driving this car 10,000+ miles on this car a year and just with my spec experience I feel good about going that route. Car will see wayy more street use than track use. Hope to do a fair amount of street racing with the car. Been quite some time since I've got out and had a good time. I've looked at monster and have never Hurd one bad thing about them but for the money I feel good about spec. Im open to other options tho, like any guy should be!

My buddy used to run spec 3 clutches in his t56. They seemed to work very well. It was a high 9 car then
