Anyone built a brace to hold the master cylinder in position and help with the firewall flex? I've seen come on Super Stock 3rd gens want to do something on mine while I'm in the fabricating mood. Looking for pics and suggestions. I've seen some on road race 3rd gens but they are on the strut tie bars which I don't need on a drag car.
I've seen the 4th gen stuff, obviously won't work on 3rd gens. I have firewall reinforcing plate as my car's converted to manual brakes. I did see some homemade braces that push on the end of the MC. The one I saw that I'll probably copy attaches to the lower bolts on the manual brake adapter plate and has tubing to the strut tower/fenderwell.
I appreciate the reply, that's not what I'm needing I have a firewall reinforcement plate. I'm looking at a brace that goes from the firewall/master cylinder to the strut tower.
I haven't seen one produced that ties in like that. I saw a support made that tied the master to the strut tower. The person who made it said as the car was braking and hitting bumps there was pedal feedback. As a result they removed the brace. I'd love to see some bracing/support that worked well.
I'm also prototyping a clutch master cyl firewall brace as well. Prototype clutch master cylinder firewall braces. The larger brace I made myself on my race car. Only difference is the plate is wider to block off the Cruise control grommet hole on my 92 RS
Awesome!!! keep up the good work your contributions to the community are inspiring. Any news on the clutch pin for 3rd gen pedals?
I will pick up a clutch brace if you go to production with them
The clutch pedal pin is probably not gonna happen.
It's simply too expensive to have made.
Each pin would be about $100 each.
And I'd have to spend about $5,000 for a CNC shop to make a large batch.
Not really worth the risk when you can buy new 4th gen pedals for $220 ish.

understandable, if you have the cad file or measurements ill throw you some paypal, just to save me some time making one for my formula :-) I'd like to keep the thirdgen pedals
I haven't driven it yet but I can stand and pump the brakes and watch the MC and it doesn't move at all, before I could see flex. My car has been run for decades without it with no real problem just never liked the flex. I'm sure it will give a little better pedal feel.
Sorry I never followed up. Brake pedal is solid as a rock now, no firewall flex or fear of the firewall cracking. Car is faster now and it feels good to have a very solid pedal.
