In Memory Of

though I haven't posted in awhile, I feel with the horrible event that occurred it is time to post once again.

Don and myself feel we should honor Thanos, not having a memorial for him, but having a gathering for him in celebrating his life, as we may not have met him, but he was welcomed on the boards and posted with cascade crew and other boards on TGO.
since he was born in Canada and ended his life in Canada, I feel its only proper to hold it here. I'm not only suggesting that this invitaion go out to the current members of the Cascade crew, but the previous members, and I will put in invite out to BCTFB as I feel this has hit the driving community, as it could have been anyone of us.

I've talked to a few people and November 2 seems to work for everybody, as well as it gives notice to any of the further members that wishes to attend. since we are hoping for a good turn out, we (don and myself) feel that it would be best that this be a potluck deal. If there are any further questions or concerns feel free to PM or email me at SSGTi@hotmail.com

hope to see all the locals and maybe some of the further away members

hey dude... i have to say..this is one gathering i REALLY hope i can make.. this whole incident has really woke my *** up.. im sure the crew will remember how i drove during the january dyno gathering..and it apears thanos and i had a lot in common as far as driving styles go..that being said..ive chilled my driving style..and from now on i think i'll keep the racing stuff on tha track.

where exactly is this gathering going to be held {doesnt know jack about canada} sorry.. and about how far { in miles or hours} is the gathering place from around portland oregon?

i plan on taking my transam..and am just trying to figure out how much $$$ i'll have to have set aside for fuel, food, hotel costs.

any idea about how long this gathering will take place? a weekend type deal?

thanks

RIP THANOS your in our thoughts buddy

not sure where you are located at.. but I am basically 15 minutes from the truck crossing or peace are... if you know where they are.. if not Jesse might beable to give you a better idea since he's been to my place.. and don is about 45 mins from me.. so basically this will be held around the boarder.. so no long drives once you reach the boarder.

hope to see ya here

Unless something comes up, I'm there.

I also have never been to Canada, and wish my first trip would be on a happier note, but celebrating the life of one of our fallen crew members makes it worth the *checks mapquest.com* 600 miles or so.. wow.. 600 miles.

Hey Jess.. feel like company for a couple nights?

I would be honored to attend. I was not going to attend anything during my pregnancy but this is the exception. I probably would not stay the night but will stay for the day. I'll make a few dishes to bring as well to compensate for those traveling longer distances. I'm just north of Seattle and I have plenty of room for anyone that needs a place to crash on the way up to Canada. I don't have a copy of my birth certificate and I never needed it to get into Canada before. Is this a new thing?

It would be great to finally meet Don and the rest of you Canadians I have yet to meet.

Summer and John, the birth certificate thing is just to get back into the states... not 100% necessary, but they like to have proof in case of fradulent ID... if you have a secondary ID or something then that shall work fine, or your social security card...

I believe the passport will work as well though

It only went into effect last year, for obvious reasons I guess...

as for me, I'll be there

I have crossed a couple times, into Washington, with out my birth certificate... I streched the truth & said that I had to send away for my birth cert (a prossess that takes 6-8 weeks here). If you have a passport that's all you will need to gain entry.... they ask for a birth certificate as proof you are a resident of the country & a DL as picture ID... Passports show both.

Anyone wanting to come up Friday eve or Saturday is more than welcome to stay at my place.

I would love to attend this. Joe would it be possible to hitch a ride up with you? I don't really want to drive my iroc up there right now. I'd be glad to help you out with some gas money and a place to crash before we head up.

I'll be there.

There's room at my place in Vancouver if anyone needs it, but that's an even further drive.

I can make it to this event, I'm about 15min from the Peace Arch border crossing. This is a really good idea to honor his memory.

Not a problem John. By then I'll be in Medford, so the 5 hours on up to you in one day would work fine for me....

Hit me up on MSN next time you are around.. since you are always "away".

Absolutly! Might have to battle Mike S. and Lance for one of the couches though

I plan on making it, I'm ~1 south of the border and have plenty of floor space for people needing a place to crash.

See you there, Rich!

Don - I have a voters card so I'll bring it along.

Canadian Don - I will have $ and cookies for you when I arrive. I did not forget about you.

Can one of you "sponsors" of this gathering post it on the Cascade Crew board so it gets more coverage? If that's OK. Maybe it's not. I dunno.

umm it already has been posted on the crew board.. just never seem to get any replies

as far as plans go.. we are planing a lunch at one of our local parks seems how there seems to be intrest in this... and neither of our homes would really accomdate everyone, and then heading out and going for a cruise on some our backroads, then seeing what everyone is up to.. basically all depends how long everyone is planning to be up here

Well if you make the 7+ hours (I'm assuming your at least an hour from Spokane?) to my place sure, shouldn't be a problem.

I will need directions from the border to said park and hopefully they have covered areas in case it rains. Also, what time are we meeting?

I'd like to caravan if ya'll want to meet up at the gas station off of Jess's exit. Who's game?

I am, looks like a few maybe staying at my place Friday so either the 76 station or you can just meet us at my place, which ever works better.
