Hey Don,

Actually, I took the easy way out! While perusing thru a salvage yard with my buddy (69 F/b convertible) looking for a new rear, came across an IROC with cable-driven 145mph speedo, snagged it for $25, and installed it that afternoon! Doesn't look the same as the other gauges, but... oh, well! It works!

I'm still planning a completely different dash in the future, aluminum plate with Autometer gauges all around! But that's for much later!

BTW, did you come over to the Everett Naval Base over the 4th? They had tours of a sub!

Paul

See ya around m8!

It won't. My friend had an 85 TA with the cable driven ****. Tried a speedo from an 87 TA and from an 88 GTA both didn't work. They had the cable driven in 85 and 86 only I think.

Don, have you been to that site that shows how to switch to elex speedo? I've been there, looks fairly straight-forward, but, like I said, I took the easy way out! Probably will still end up going the elex way in the future, gotta get thru all this other major crap I'm getting ready to face though!

:deflects Demons slap, pokes in eye:

buddy of mine in school is a pretty well known muckity-muck in the sub community, he might know of ways around that!

You know what they say about subs though: 120 men go down, 60 couples come back up!
I mean, it's bad enough to be on a ship that can sink, but one that sinks ON PURPOSE? I don't think so!!

Hiyas Ponch,

That site would be worth a look can you link me up ? There is so much info on third gens, I'm still finding new sites everyday.

Found this one at lunch:
http://www.gmtips.com/3rd-degree/dox/tips/tips.htm

I might just wind up with the cluster unless another sucker bids on it lol.

Pull some strings and get me on the U-boat please ! I know my 11 yr old would love it

Don

Hey Don, that was a pretty cool site!! I added that into my Fave list too!!

Here's the one I was talking about:

http://www.hioutput.com/tech/speedo.html

and if you go back to the root, the whole rest of the site is pretty well done too!! I particularly like the 305 Torquer buildup that I _WILL_ be following here pretty soon! (Got to get single first!) Then, hopefully, I'll have the money and time to do it!

Happy hunting! {and I'll keep trying to work that issue but just found out my main contact is taking 6(!) classes this term so he can graduate, as well as working full time, so he doesn't have much time to spare!}

Laterz!
