I need opinions!

Ok, here's the deal. I need your opinion on something. I have been pondering this for quite sometime and I just got fed up with myself. hehe. When I get a Camaro. Should I get a white or yellow. I mean which do you think would be better to have? I mean if I buy a Camaro and then paint it yellow would it be worth it or what? Well, sorry to bore you but I need HELP!!! Thanx

Well, that was kinda what I was thinking but then Joe said that you don't see very many yellow Camaro's cause they didn't make them in 91 92 so I was thinking that mine would be rare if it was yellow but then I would have to paint it. So, yeah I think I will go with white.. Unless I change my mind between now and whenever. (doubtful) hehe Thanks guy's. Other people are welcome to reply too!!

Finding a 3rd Gen in GOOD SHAPE is getting harder and harder to find. Color is more of a factor when a car is newer and there are plenty of good cars to be found.

But, as these cars get older and good cars get harder to find, color becomes one your least important factors. You want the best quality car you can find and take it in whatever color your can find.

Which you rather have a "basket case" white or yellow Camaro or a great running Camaro (but in your worst choice of color)? I say, get the best condition car and IF you really can't stand the color, get it repainted.

But I also caution against repainting a car (especially if the paint is original and in good condtion...they are always worth the most). Nothing worst than opening the door of your "yellow" Camaro and see "purple" door jams, or getting a rock chip and seeing "green" underneath.

White!!!!!! For the love of all that is good in this world. Have you ever seen a white 3rd gen? Have you seen a yellow one? The choice is so obvious. I can't comprehend even thinking about it. White!!!!!!!!!

OK, I might be slightly biased because my car is white.

I agree with Glen. Get one that's in great shape. But that doesn't mean settle for the first thing you find. Look around a while. If it happens to be white or yellow then great.

As far as painting goes.... find a nice one and save your money. Paint jobs are pricey. If you really must spend money then put it in to go-fast goodies.

Another thing you can do it pick up someone else's hot rod project. Great deals to be found but they don't come along very often.

Personally, I don't agree w/ Glenn. If the car runs descently and is a good price but is a color you hate... don't buy it. Paint jobs that are good go for 2-3k! Personally when I was looking for a car I waited a bit, car had to be black, had to have t-tops... prefered to be in good shape.
You gotta be able to live with the car first, and if you don't like the color of it, then DON'T BUY IT! If I woulda had a black Camaro I'd still be in a Camaro, but I looked at the price of a paint job and went, nevermind...
Minor mechanical problems and such are a heck of a lot easier and cheaper to fix then a new paint job...
If I woulda had the choice... red, perfect shape, grey interior, 3.1 90 firebird AT or a black, crappy interior and high mileage motor I still woulda bought the black one.
Anyway, that is my .02,
Douglas
PS. Yellow, of all the colors white is the worst.

Have you seen Doug's driveway? Besides, who cares if white is easy to keep clean - there are very few white cars that I like. Just doesn't look nearly as good as black or other colors.

It doesn't work, Doug. Trust me on this one. Guys like guy cars and girls like girl cars. They ain't the same. No woman was ever interested in my Vette. Now think about that for a second.... no woman was ever interested in my Vette. Hmmmm... I know a lot of women who dig Vettes but they didn't care for mine. Rare admiral blue with tan leather interior. What's the problem?!?! To a guy a supercharged 6-speed Vette with an OBNOXIOUSLY loud exhaust system is just dang sweet. But uh... it don't work the other way around. You come rumbling in to a parking lot and the guys flock to your car. That sucks!

Not true. My wife likes a sharp car just as much as the next person. She just doesn't always like the sleazeball in the drivers seat. It goes something like the "whats difference between a hoover upright and a harley...."

Z28Chick, paint is like beauty...it's only skin deep. It's what's on the inside (or under the hood) that really matters. I've had my IROC-Z for 10 years, she's getting worn but she still runs good. If you make the inital improvements and maintain them, it'll last quite along time as long as you don't thrash on it. I think you should pay attention to the paint RPO code when you get one, it will tell you what the car orignally was painted; keep it that color if your looking for collectiblity. If you don't care about the collectibility and just want to own one because it is what it is, an American made vehicle, paint it what you want. Give it the personality you want it to have. If you like black, go with something with a kick, like maybe a pearl undercoating. BTW, black is one of the hardest colors to paint to make it look good. Just my .02

Hey, that wasn't the question, I said do you like guys in black cars, not black cars

I think you are looking in the wrong places, Qwk, because my ex/present (long story, don't ask) gf loves my car, she likes working on it and cleaning it, and just the car in general, though she liked me long before the car, so it does work that way sometimes when you get lucky!

I was just teasing ya . Actually the factory shade of orange on my new IROC is pretty ugly, but you'll see that for yourself in a couple weeks.
