New motor in...

Well spent the weekend tearin out the ole 305 and puttin the new 327 in. Got it in the car now, and everything underneath done. Just got everything on top to do yet. Hope to finish it tuesday. Looks much better than the 305. Painted all the bracketry etc. too. Had a few hangups(run 45 miles to parts store for different flexplate) and a bunch of other small things.

Think I figured out why the 305 had a surge over 3000rpm. When I pulled the fuel pump pushrod it was sharp on the cam end. Compared it to a new one and its over 1/8" shorter! Bet the pump lobe is wiped. Probably was only running on the 3psi electric supply pump.

Anyway things look good so far for gettin it to the gathering. Hope to meet a bunch of you there.

32 is EGR problem. Don't remember what problem specifically. Do you still have an EGR on the new 327?

Its running! Now I just need exhaust and a different air cleaner. But even breathing through the stock lg4 exhuast its got more power. And yes I put all the computer stuff back on. Looks just like a 305 with a performer on top. Nobody needs to know different! Everythings workin good...no yellow lights,no codes. Found a set of CP rods in a different carb put them in as well. Theyre the same as DRs except .003 smaller across the board.

Found what not to do...the distributor was all green and corroded so I sprayed the pickup down with Corrosion Block. That doesnt work at all. Motor wouldnt idle, ran rough, tach jumped around etc. Sprayed it down with brake clean and it got better...but then it would die when put in gear. Took apart and sprayed it down with cleaner and air again. Now it finally works. Going to replace the pickup and module tomorrow. Too much corrosion.
