90 camaro rs engine swap
90 camaro rs engine swap
I have a 90 rs it has 3.6 V6 and is all stock. Pretty much want to see what engine you guys recommend to swap into it. I’m still learning in case I seem confused. I’d like something around 300hp give or take. Thanks

What kind of condition is your car in? I know we all want to have more than what we've got, but since you're new at this perhaps you should focus attention on some more basic maintenance/appearance type of jobs to your running driving (assuming here) car to see if working on it is something you actually enjoy doing?
Your car should have a 3.1L v6 with either a 700r4 automatic or t5 5 speed manual. The bellhousing is different between v6 and v8. If it's automatic you're buying another transmission and a torque converter. If you car is a manual, yes you can reuse the t5 transmission with a v8 t5 bellhousing, however the input shaft has a different spline count from the v8 version so you'll have to figure out something for a clutch. It gets expensive quickly, especially if you don't have the tools or means to do it yourself.

yes you’re right it’s a 3.1, and it is automatic. Currently it is not running, I’ve always wanted to change to another engine because the one it has now is a bit on the slower side. I’ve worked on it before, changing oil, spark plugs, and other things that have needed repair along the way. I do enjoy working it, I just don’t have a whole lot of knowledge with what engine might be a good fit to swap it out but I’m willing to put the time into it.
