Stupid shifter Nob!!
Stupid shifter ***!!
I got a replacment boot and shifter *** for my car (Obviously). The problem is the *** wont come off. It's supposed to be a screw off isn't it?? if so, it seems like the damn thing is glued on. I don't want to break anything underneath by torquing on it. Any suggestions?? I have no idea how to get the thing off. So for the moment, I have the boot and ***, but can't install them until I can get the old one off. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanx,
Jay

when i got the new one for mine, i couldn't get the old **** off very easy.
i had to take a pair of vice grips, and clamp then on to the shifter, and the REALLY put some force into getting the **** off.

There is a "U" clip holding it on probably.. look in the front of it, facing the dash.. and use a pair or good needle nose pliers to take it out.. then the **** should come right off.

i beleive he has a 5-speed, so there is no c-clip, that is only on some of the autos

glad to hear that worked for you... and for future referance, if you have a shifter boot you want to keep on, and can't get the *** off, put a towel around the boot, and clamp the vice grips down on the towel, that way you don't risk messing up your boot.
