Exhaust Info For 91RSHawaii

Hey man, I'm starting a new thread for your questions on exhaust. That other thread is for us planning on getting together & I don't want it to go off topic. So here are some pics of the second idea I told you about. This is gonna cost you some money though lol! But just some food for thought. Enjoy!

Pic 1-You could run 2 pipes all the way back like in this pic or split the single pipe into 2 right before the rearend.

Pic 2- This shows what I mean about the muffler placement. In this pic just replace those black mufflers with the bullets.

This pic shows my first idea of placing the bullet where the cat is. Except 2 bullets are run here & exits before the rearend. This setup wouldn't be too good for everyday driving cause fumes would probably leak in. Might wanna try oval tubing if you try this to get the tailpipes to fire out right in front of the rear tire & past the body kit. Oval tubing is expensive though. Do a search, I had a thread going on oval exhaust a while back if you want info on that. By the way, this pic is of Chris'(RevLimit) drifting Camaro. And let me tell you that his car is loud!!!!! I rode in it the day he was testing it out at the track. Very fun!

Just putting on a flowmaster will be waaaaaaaaay cheaper than you trying to do those other setups.

Those look real good. How much do those types of mufflers cost?

My truck's exhaust needs some work. (Like every other part of that beater.) I need more practice welding anyway.

That looks cool, but on my sixer i'll not be doing that. You end up loosing too much power. Mine is already way loud, sounds like a V8 anywayz, dont need it any louder. I'll have to let some of all hear it when I can drive again. Witch I hope will be before July.

zrated has a bullet type exhaust, but would it be possible to run something like this non-true dual yet retain the dual exit pipe idea? splice the exhaust through a ypipe instead of the xpipe thing?

lol i know next to nothing about exhaust, but what would happen if i welded a bullet inplace of the cat, and just axed the rest of the exhaust system, allowing the fumes to exit straight from the bullet?

Just roll up your windows & run the AC.

Oh by the way, did you want me to email you my collection of exhaust pics 91RSHawaii?

Exhaust Systems Hawaii in Waipahu does custom stuf, they bend the pipe right there on a pipe-bender so it fits okay, but I think they deal mostly with Flowmasters. One of my co-workers had his S-10 done there, he swears up and down that they're a bomb shop. Seeing I want Edelbrock's 3" TES cat-back, I won't go to ESH. But yeah, they have all the stuff you would need to get some sort of cat-back running. I think they do headers, too, but I could be wrong...

They do headers. Mental note, the Kailua shop did a sh**** job on my y pipe. I think I had a beginner worker do it, but that was a loooooooong time ago so don't know how they are now.

hmm what do you guys think about a single bullet straight after the headers and chop the rest of the system?

So, you want a muffler right after the y-pipe, and then route it so it side-exits? (Dual side exiting exhaust does look cool...) It would be sort of LOUD, wouldn't it?

I'm no expert, but I'd guess whatever that trans am is worth (by options and condition alone) plus 10% give or take. Then again, I don't know if there is anything special about 30th's besides the paint.

Is it a t56? What's he want for it? I've always been a sucker for those white and blue paint schemes... plus you gotta love those wheels! Though, I'd never be able to afford one....

yup its a t-56. He let me drive it, hehe. Makes the old RS seem like a snail in comparison. Oh well lol he said he'd let me buy it from him when I get older. lol i doubt i could afford it anyway. I would still never get rid of the 3rd gen.

If I remember, that was made in 1999 - I'd try to find a 20th one instead - embrace the power of turbo! Still, the 30th did come with LS1 so you can't argue with that. My wife saw a nice emerald-gren 4th gen the other day and fell in love, I think it was a late-model Trans Am. I better start saving pennies.

Yep, gotta love the 4th gens too! But I'd have to stay far away from a T/A, the insurance is way too much for me. I'll stick to formulas. Then again... 30th ann t/a....

I better start savin' too!

We've done hijacked this thread, like all the others. Fortunatly, I'm married, belong to a credit union and whatever other 'favorable' things they factor int the premium. It just dropped to $955/6 months for THREE cars (five hundred for the wife's car, do the math for the rest of it... third gens are CHEAP for me). Now if they hadn't gone ahead and raise the weight tax for Registration...

You're tellin' me! My 25+ year old truck costs close to $200 per year now! That's like 50% of it's value! Well, maybe more now until I rebuild the engine.
