June/July meet anyone?

Okay, how's everyone for getting together sometime this/next month? Something like what we already did: Meet up, take pictures, cruise a bit, take more pictures, go home. Any comments? Questions? Suggestions? Post if you can and if you can't, and at what time you expect your ride to be streetable. I'd like to do it on a Saturday, if possible, but I'm aware that some work that day. (I've been known to from time to time...)

I'm down to meet up again. Cruising at an event would be cool.

The 'bird is still legal and runnin'... and weekends are always good.

I would've bought that car on site for $700 as long as the body was straight with no rust. Dang, wish I didn't miss that sale

I would've bought it even if it HAD rust - well, if the wife said it was okay... It's not like I have too many cars right now anyway. Heck, go right ahead and sell it for close to two grand, pour the extra cash into the GTA or towards the principal for the wife's car... "It's not another car, it's an investment opportunity!"

it did infact have a straight body, no visible rust, and had about 144,000 on the odometer. tires even had about 80% tread left. rims looked just like new as well. whatever the dealer did, he sure as hell made it look good. I did not however get a chance to start her up, twas a damn shame.

on second thought though, I did finally get to drive a L98 camaro, my uncle picked one up 1989 IROC-Z, has a mean growl to it, im jealous of him. Totally makes me want to ditch the RS.

Nothing wrong with having a TBI RS. Just don't get caught at a light beside an L98 car and try to show off, that's all. Check out www.goingfaster.com for some really cool tips as how to get some performance out of an L03! Good guy, really knows his stuff. (He's also very opinionated, so if he says something that bugs you, join the party.)

I thought a krispy kreme was opening somewhere on the island....

Anyway, so what are the ideas for the next meet? The weather seems nicer lately... and weekends are always good.

It's Hurricane Season. The weather will be unperdictable for some time. I wouldn't mind doing something soon, but I'd like it if we could plan for everyone's hectic schedules, as well as everyone's planned RFI (Ready For Issue, Condition Code A)dates for their cars. And how about a place with some SHADE this time?

Everybody please chime in as to how long it will take for their cars to get legal or running, and what days you would be able to do this as well as what times.

Both my cars are legal (sort of, where's my muffler?!) and I can do stuff Monday and Thursday (after 4pm) and certain Saturday's most of the day. PM me for my contact information.

One of the places my son and I like to cruise on Sat or Sun is Pizza Bob's out in Haleiwa. They open at 11 a.m. and have some of the best New York and Sicilian style pizza around ... for those over 21, they also have Sam Adams on tap. PB's also has a huge parking lot that is always empty in the a.m. and you can reduce your paranoia by keeping an eyeball on your car through the big windows [like I do].

We could meet somewhere in Pearl City at around 10 a.m., then cruise to PB, pop the hoods, talk smack about cars, timing and stuff. Heh, I'll take bets if eight guys wanna grab onto Scott's plug wires to see which tough guy hangs on the longest.

Howzat?

Sounds good to me. Parking lot is a pretty nice place to take pictures too, trees and stuff in the background. And who can argue with Pizza and Beer?? haha! I'm free any day before 4pm so 10am would be perfect (even on the days I work). Might be a little sleepy but thats what the Beer is for right? hahahah

Sounds fine to me, I'm down for Pizza and talking tech. If I can walk out smarter than I came in, it's cool. Definitly gotta be a Saturday for that, though.

I probably wont be very busy, but I still can't drive, so I'll be busy doing nothing, more than likely.

I just hope that as soon as i'll be able to drive, we(as in the HI thirdgen members) are still having meets.

Ok, you guys take a vote, pick a Saturday good for the majority.

Personally, I think Saturday, July 3rd is perfect.

Kj Rockz -- when the team decides "when," if there's nobody in your area you can ride with, I'll pick you up.

I'll ask the wife about it, she how that works for her - I'd like to have both cars there, if possible - so you can all laugh at the Torqueless Wonder.

If there's alcohol being consumed, I won't come - personal reasons. No alcohol, I'm there. Sorry if that offends anyone, but that's just how it is.

No problem, I'm 20, Ian. I can't drink anyway. Besides, I'd just get lost more often....

We can always pick something that everyone likes, so no worries.

No problem, a couple of joints is always better than a beer or two... Low-cal too.

Drinking Beer; Lots of carbs

Eating munchies; Lots of carbs

Smoking a doobie; Priceless!!!

So all in all, your bound to get fat.

You guys crack me up. However, I don't think I'll be able to make it anyway - Shawn finally got the car and I get to have loads of fun swapping doors, hatch and the interior. Unless Shawn has plans of showing up to this little shin-dig, then I guess I'll be coming too, that is, if it's this Saturday.

I'm game for Saturday -- everyone meet 10 a.m. at the Stadum Mall Jack-in-the-Box, then cruise to Pizza Bobs, get there about 10:30 a.m., pop the hoods, talk smack/junk/hot air about this-n-that, take a few snapshots, then bust PB's door in at 11 for lunch and more whatevers. At 12:30 or 1 p.m. go over to Kaneohe to help 91RSHawaii by evaluating the '91 Z28 he's considering buying. Nothing like a bunch of F-Body guys descending on the seller to make him honest.

Wow, who's left?

Yeah I most likely won't have time either. I'm still finishing stuff up on my truck.

It's a good thing I'm a procrastinator (for once...) because Summit called me this morning to tell me the lifters I bought might be bad. Luckily, I got a good batch. And to think, I was rushing to get the cam in by today!

The only thing that irratated me was the fact that my mom (who answered the house phone) wasn't going to give me the phone because the summit rep was asking for me by my first name. It's a damn good thing I was right next to her on my way out to work.

I kept yelling, "I'M JOHN!! I USE MY LEGAL NAME FOR A LOT OF STUFF, MOM!! GIVE ME THE PHONE!!" Plus, I TOLD summit to use my middle name, "Scott." Then again, I also told them to use my cell as my primary contact.... Those bastards! Hehe.

You guys have a safe weekend. Remember, CHECKPOINTS!!!

Scott

Oh well, my son and I will likely go anyway 'cause it's a chance to get out of town and exercise the IROC without a bunch of traffic. If anyone has the itch to go and stops by the Jack in the Box, Stadium Mall and see a "92" white Z28 in the parking lot, look for the fat guy with a beard and we'll run up to Pizza Bobs.

Hey Scott -- which cam and lifters are going in your FB?

Cheers,
Ed

well i called the guy up, and am gonna meet him 10-11 ish in the morning to take a look at the 91 z28, so I prob have to hold off on the monthly meet for another time. It's hard for us all to get together I guess, it's not like we all don't have anything to do on the same exact day hehe... If sean and chris drift next drift session, I'll be there for sure, my girlfriends brother is into that stuff now and he wanted me to come watch him (he's a import freak though, drifts his s14 silvia not 240sx, silvia, and his hachiroku, took a ride in his silvia, completely reassured me that I would never ever get an import ever, sure it was fast, but nothing can ever beat the feeling of the ride in a musclecar). Just a suggestion for a time hehe...

On a side note, how do you guys(Chris,Shawn) stack up against the import scene drifting wise? Are there any other domestic drifters out there in the islands hehe?

Ever mangled your car drifting?

nope, he was rather semi-unpleasant in dealing with, as in i emailed him a bunch of times, but he only replied once, i guess i asked him too many technical questions about the condition of his car. I will however, be sure to get those numbers today. Hehe should kinda scare the guy driving up in a 3rd gen to look at one, he can't pull too much b.s. (It's pretty bad sometimes, an IROC I looked at about 2 years ago was claimed to have over 450 hp, with a LG4, and a "custom" single exhaust, not to mention a totally wasted tranny) s

If anyone has the itch to go and stops by the Jack in the Box, Stadium Mall and see a "92" white Z28 in the parking lot, look for the fat guy with a beard and we'll run up to Pizza Bobs.
We had a great time and for some reason we didn't get stuck behind any tour buses going or coming, so it was a chance to blow some carbon out of the system.

Here's Martin with my IROC and the sky is raining really great Sicilian style pizza, maybe next time eh?

Srry I missed you guys. Pizza looks good!@! Didnt end up installing the TH350 yet because turns out its the long 350 tailshaft, not the 700 tailshaft so no torque arm mount now. But I did get the 700 dropped and delivered (with the help of my Uncle). Ended up getting the Spohn combo (xmember and tq arm) so I can get this thing on the track. Hopefully next week I can install it. Was mad though because I thought this was gonna be a budget swap.

Ever mangled your car drifting?
Fortunately for me, all my crashes have not mangled my cars. But thats mostly because I dont push my limits hard (well I try not to). Chris on the other hand, well he pushes his limits a lot so he constantly gets better. The guy is crazy, but thats also why hes good. I seen Chris get into some crazy situations, from smashed front, smashed back, smashed side, exploding radiator, engine fires, etc. I got into my first 50mph accident riding with him (lol). But I'm catching up to him man, had my first engine fire last drift session (lol). So far I've seen 5 domestic guys give it a try at the drift session. Chris, me, guy with a grey stang, guy with the cobra replica, and guy with a sweet 1st gen. Domestics are pretty big and heavy so our cars appear to move slower when we drift and the weight means they react slower. But when you ride inside its just as crazy as riding with the import guys. Also, takes time to get the suspension / tire setup working good (still trying to get my green car tuned right). I'll be at the next drift session too (July 24 I think), be sure to come by and say wasap. I'll be in the green car with newly installed TH350 manual shift, new struts/springs, fixed front steering (was the tie rod adjusters), and smaller rear swaybar. Bring a helmet and come for a ride. Gonna be experimenting with new tire setup too so should be interesting hehehehe. Here's a pic of Chris's old chassis from Feb 21

What time will you be out there? My son and I have run there before, but I think we'd just like to come out and watch.

Its going to be 10am to 3pm, I think $10 to get through the gate and watch, $65 to drive. Its going to be a DS2 format so we will be using the entire short course and making laps (pit in the skid pad). See you guys there!!
