I wouldnt mind trying to drift it hehehe.... probably no way in hell id do that after paint lol.
Unless you car's in good shape with solid shocks and suspension component, AND a good cooling system -- I'd recommend you park it next to my garage queen and watch the "no walls -- no *****" crowd, heh. No sense raising the danger level to "overwhelming"!

If it's 2 hoses coming out of the firewall more on the passenger side then your heater is bypassed.

heres a crude pic for now the hose thats hacked up is down there in the red spot(out of visible sight, near the firewall, actuallycoming out of it), and is there something that supposed to be attached to the smaller red circled area?

Yup, the previous owner bypassed the heater. (Are there 2 hoses that are hacked coming out of the firewall? They should be next to each other.) The most common reason that people do that is because the heater core started leaking.(When your passenger side front floor area starts to smell like antifreeze or feel wet). The other thing you circled doesn't have anything that's suppose to be connected to it. It's threaded because a cap usually goes there. It's one of your schrader valves (low pressure side), & deals with the AC. Hope this all helps

Gotta love the iron exhaust manifolds - mine look the samy way, rusted. Does the A/C system get recharged through that valve, or is that somewhere else?

I'd run my car, but seeing that my suspension needs some love, I'll pass and park it next to the 'garage queen'. My wife is busy all day, so I can hang out as long as I want. I even got the permission slip signed telling me so!

I see, so what exactly does bypassing the heater core entail, is this why my a/c doesnt work? Could this explain the mysterious liquid in my passenger side rear foot well?

Just to let you guys know, this upcoming Drift Session is a DS 2 format. Its $65 to drift on the short course, or $20 to drift long turn 1. It'll be from 9am (prolly start at 10am) to 3pm. Bring sun tan lotion, a hat, and some drinks in a cooler. It gets hot out there. See you guys there!!

Hot lapping fun woohoo! Oh, by the way Shawn, I think Kell is gonna help set up the long course turn 1 area. Should be pretty interesting because he was planning on setting up cones on the way down to the turn. I will as usual be filming all over the place & hopefully I can get third gen footage this time

Does it cost anything to just show up? I'm not competing, I just want to meet up and give you back your seat (finally) and get an airbox. Right, Scott?

91RS - is that a zip-tie holding your radiator hose onto the air duct? Or is the air duct held onto the radiator hose? I've heard that for every non-factory zip-tie, (especially in the wiring harness) subtract $100 off the seller's price.

Bypassing the heater core is no big deal here in the tropics, I ran my car that way for a long time because the core blew a leak and pissed coolent on the passenger side. But when I fixed the AC it was getting so cold in the car I needed the heater to avoid going into a coma -- so I was forced to install a new core. When you're ready I can show you how. It's not as bad as some weenies make it out to be.

I suspect your AC doesn't work 'cause there's not enough refigerant [if any] and there's a switch that shuts off the AC if the pressure is too low. Doing the AC can be expensive, say about $360 for a new compressor, $90 for the cylinder gizmo, another $100 to have it charged with 134.

First thing I'd do is get the mess of hoses and stuff in the engine bay and electrical problems straightened out...

So, what kind of liquid is spilled in your car?

I'll have the air filter and box with me.

I noticed the zip-tie also. I'm sure it'll work okay but you're super-heating your air.

A/C work isn't that bad. Might just need to be recharged, and you can do that yourself. If you need parts, you can look into used parts if the reman's are too pricey. Replace all the hoses.

Hey Shawn, DS2 is kinda pricey for drifters, eh? Is the end-of-the-year DS goin' to be a big thing or somethin'? I got a classmate that works at the track sometimes, I should ask him.

Anyone goin' to watch the UH-MichSt game after?

Scott

Okay, 10 bucks is manageable. I'll have the cash for the airbox, too. I'll try remembering to bring some water or maybe a big thing of Gatorade.

I wqas tempted to go buy a huge thing if zip-ties in orer to hack my Beater harness properly, but since I don''t own it anymore and it has a kiddie pool in it and the owner isn't here... ach, chronics suck.

You should have a big ol' bucket of zip ties. They work wonders for all things automotive. Some better than others....

I need to see if my cheap cooler will fit in my firebird. It easily holds a few half-racks and the bigger bag of ice. I'm just worried I'm going to forget to fill it.

So, who's going 'for sure?'

I am.

Count me in, I'll be there around 9:30-ish, maybe later if I have last-minute things pop up. I gotta remember to wash the car, probably when I get gas tonight. Of course, with my paint job, cleaning it might not make a big difference. The rims, on the other hand...
