AN fittings

I have 24 9/16" AN nuts and tube flare thingies, the little part that actually applies the torque to the flare itself. They're aluminum, if that means anything, and they're unanodized. If someone has soem Alumniprep and some Alodine, they could be anodized pretty quickly, if they wanted to. If anyone is interested, I'd be willing to part with them for pretty cheap, maybe the whole bag for a small part or whatever. They're just going to collect dust on my bookshelf for years if I don't just toss them. Lemme know.

Goodness, no one wants these things? I found another twenty in my desk drawer, and I even have a few odd-ball sizes, too. Spring cleaning came pretty early for me, or very late, depending on your point of view. Even found my Leatherman Wave!

I'm not terribly sure what the AN-# size is. They don't say. I have four that have 7/32" nuts. Tiny, I'm sure they wouldn't even be good for brake lines. We'll have to have an AN expert look at them, because I'm not.

Okay, don't know what happened when trying to edit my post...

Anyhoo...thought about it and if a 9/16" wrench fits, then it's a -4 not a -6. Don't think I'll need anything that small for fuel lines. stew

Cheap is good but gotta think safety first and got some reservations on using aluminum tubing for fuel lines, too. I'd like to run stainless but the parts cost a little more. Anyone want to chime in? stew
Always best to keep the mating surfaces the same material, or at least materials that are compatible [like brass/iron]. In the case of fuel lines, I opted to use steel AN fittings, both welded and flared on the tank side, since it is hidden from view and not usually opened for work. If I were to use AN fittings inside the engine compartment, it would be nothing but stainless or steel. High pressure lines at 50 psi can shoot a lot of gasoline everywhere, heh. But I'm not the expert, do some browsing up at Earls or Russels, I'm sure the answer is over there...

Here's a link to my fuel lines with AN fittings and a recommended solution for 3rd Gens.

I'll give you $20 for the leatherman, hehe.

The fittings are probably plenty strong for fuel. Check out Ed's (Duck) thread for more info on that.
