I also have the dual fans, and it would be a lot better if:
1) they came on sooner and,
2) they had a shroud to properly channel airflow.
I'll probably have to fix some cooling system problems that are inherent with the GM setup if I expect my car to live after I replace my intake manifold gaskets. I've overheated the car twice, and I don't want to try that again.

I actually saw the TTA temp gauge climb above 220 (middle of the range) today, stopped in traffic at the Light Of Eternity by Sam's Club. It didn't keep climbing, much, and as soon as I was able to get the car moving, the reading dropped a lot, below 200. Considering I've never seen it get above 220 at all, I was worried for a minute that I had THREE cars that are/were going through cooling problems.

Every week I have to suffer through bumper-to-bumper downtown traffic jams and this hot weather means the AC is on MAX the whole time in the 5.7 IROC. It's gone up to 190, but no higher. It has a 160 thermostat, stock twin fans, 160 fan switch, Edlebrock high-flow water pump and new stock 2-core replacement radiator. I've not added Purple Ice yet, but have it ready if needed.
Someday I'll upgrade to a aluminum 3-core and twin Spal shrouded fans, but not yet...
If it doesn't go above 220~230 and you aren't pinging, you're "fine" for daily driving.
Getting the fans on sooner and flushing you're system out will help. Replace the hoses, clean out and straighten the radiator AND condensor fins, and maybe a slightly lower t-stat.
The system is designed to get hot enough to burn off moisture that builds up in the oil. Any hotter than that isn't helping. If you want it running cooler that's fine. As long as you change your oil at least 4 times a year.
However, I was asking about plans for the next cruise. I should have started a new thread....
