Project Dual Quad 383 Continues....
Hey guys. I know I've been out of sight, out of contact, & out of touch for the past 3-4 yrs. But the time has come to get going on this project of mine again! Some of you guys might of remembered me talking about it after hanging up the car. But for more details, just click on the link in my sig.
I'll be posting updates when I start doing things again. And believe me...since I'm taking so long on this build...I'm making sure to do it right & do it my way this time around. So all my newly installed interior will be coming all out again for a total rewire of the car. Wish me luck! And stay tuned!

Re: Project Dual Quad 383 Continues....
Ok. So I'm not really in the mood to rip out the interior yet.....I decided to tackle another area. Taking out the rearend again for a total rebuild.
Up goes the car

Get that jack under there

Had to continue a little later in the night...

Ah, there, it's out! And man, you can really tell how long I've had this car sitting. Look how corroded the PBR calipers are, haha!

Stashed on the side until I'm ready to tear it apart

Now that the rear is out, I'm gonna start taking everything else out from under the car. Old exhaust, gas tank, all the fuel/brake lines, etc.
I plan on cleaning the entire undercarriage & will repaint it all flat black, with a possible final protective undercoating. We'll see. Stay tuned for more!

Hey Ed, thanks for the compliments! And I just realized, I never formally welcomed you back to the islands, sorry! Welcome back. Hope your ragtop project is coming along nicely too.
As far as the rear goes, I'm having some racer friends set up the gears. Also gonna have them fully weld around the entire axle tube to the center section to help with strength. I still have the stock 2.77(I think that's the ratio) gears in which will be coming out shortly. And I've got a 3 series carrier all set for my 3.73 gears to put in. I know it's probably crazy to stick with the 9 bolt, considering the torquey 383 that I'm planning to put in, but I have all the parts already and I love this rear

Re: Project Dual Quad 383 Continues....
Took out the exhaust from the car today.

Decided to play with my oxy/acetylene cutting torch. Not bad, still remember how to use it, haha! I just did a quick hack up of everything so it's easier to throw away. And also cut off all the stock exhaust hanger brackets. I wanted to save them so I could have a guide to fabricate new hangers in the stock locations.

Slowly but surely, this car is coming along again.

Had some time today so I decided to pull out the heat shields & gas tank from the rear.

I have a lot of work cut out for me under here. Like I said, I'm gonna clean/strip the undercarriage & get it repainted/undercoated.

Re: Project Dual Quad 383 Continues....
Funny you should say that, cause I was thinking about it, haha! Not really the rear though. I spent some money on parts already to rebuild the 9 bolt, so I'll stick with it. Although, the 4th gen plastic tank sounds appealing!
If I ever run into & buy a salvage, or wrecked 4th gen with an LS1 & T56, I might do some serious 4th gen transfer over to my thirdgen. BUT.....not transfering of the LS1/T56....I'm actually planning on a 240sx project with the LS1/T56 in the future. Anything else left over would be used to transfer to the thirdgen though. ex.-dash/seats/gas tank, etc. But...I'm just talking here. We'll see what I really end up doing in the future

Re: Project Dual Quad 383 Continues....
Hey guys. Sorry for the long period of no updates. I'm starting to clean the undercarriage & getting ready for paint. I also started ripping the interior out again. I'll post pics soon!
I'm also stuck on what I should do with fuel delivery. I want to redo my fuel lines to be all 1/2" for fuel delivery. I need all your opinions on this. Here's a list of options that I'm considering.
-Should I modify the fuel sending unit on top of the fuel tank to run 1/2" line through it?
-Should I sump the fuel tank & run my 1/2" feed line that way?
Any opinions from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, since you're running carbs, no need for highpressure fuel systems. Do you even need a return line? Another thing nice about sumping the tank, is adding capacity, another couple of gallons would be perfect!
