I know this sounds really stupid but I need the third brake light bulbs, or a part number for them so I can order them. Apparently they have gone absent from the stores and Im going to fail my inspection without it. Stupid stringent inspection stations, it works with a test light but that aint enough for them. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bulb is a 3156 if it's the same as mine, I have the third light in the uppercenter inside hatch.

no i need the 5 bulbs for the third brake light in the three piece spoiler, not the one in the hatch. its an 88 camaro and third brake light is in the spoiler.

They have them at most auto parts stores. They are about $7.00 a piece. I just have three in mine right now. I hate paying that kinda money for a bulb. If nobody chimes in with the part #, I'll try to find it for you. Have you checked Autozone's online store?

Radio Shack P/N is 272-1177 (less than $3 each)
Auto parts store P/N is 861 (between $7 and $10 each)

If you buy them at Radio Shack, make sure you get the 10 watt version and not the 20 watt. The 20 watt will melt the housing over time. I just read about the 20 watt version causing problems and then I remembered this post.
