Brad...
The inserts are from 87-88 Turbo T-Bird hood. Real nice scoops, have a nice stamped steel mounting bracket and 4 mounting studs. I have some inner sheet bracing to trim and then bend up a "upper" box to seal against the filter.
Oh.. for those that asked. Its not a kit. all home-shop built. BW
Wow SATURN5, that's just amazing.. I love it.. What you're doing now was my initial plan for the Z28, but I fell into some good cheap turbos, and well, you know the rest of the story on that...
Nice job, keep us up to date!
Cheers!

Oh yea, I wanted to ask you if you think it will be ok having no throttle bodies in front of the inlet on the 2 superchargers? This was something I was wondering when I first wanted to do it to my car... (carburated tho)
I guess I can't see any reason why not... Turbos run the same way, so I would assume that it would be ok...
Cheers,

That engine bay just gets better and better.
SuperTrans Man,
the air comes in thru the filter box atop the engine. this feeds the superchargers which force the air forward thru the intercoolers and then up into the engine.

looks like you went rubber and plastic from the airbox D/side and metal pipe from the airbox on the pass, is this staying this way?

we all learn something new everyday..lottaballs - it isn't a kit, everything he did is custom... those are the kind of superchargers that come stock on supercharged thunderbirds, bonnevilles, etc...

Actually its metal and rubber on both sides, in the pic the drivers side was a painted flat black
. I made an adapter to convert the Eaton input opening to 3 inch round. The rubber elbows are the MAF ends from a 88 TPI T/A intake hose. I cut off the TB side. Used 3 inch steel bends across the plenum. Then opened to fit the box. cheers, BW

you should keep it as a spare in case one of them beauties fails, BTW what is the normal max RPM unit operation on a 3.8? what could it be on yours, I know you checked into this Im just wondering about how you sized your pulleys and figured it out.

I know that you didn’t ask me, but eaton doesn’t provide any information on them past 12,000rpm, and the stock applications top out at 10,000-12,000. On my brother’s car with a modified M90 case we’re spinning it right up to around 18,000rpm (2.8:1 pulley ratio, 6400rpm shift point, 6500rpm redline). I think that it will take 20,000, but my brother isn’t willing to try it.

nope ...
Last night I bought a M112.
Hehe
I've got a spare intake i've cut in half and having decked down. From ther i'm going to weld a 3/8's 6061 plate to the top of it and mount the blower.
I'm going to run a throttle body on the back of the blower just like a lightning or cobra.

yeah i just didn't think a single Eaton M90 was enought for a car that already runs 12.50's
The M112 is supernice, I've heard they are capable of 20psi on lightnings. I really like the internal bypass valve and the demensions are a little better for my application than a M90
I'll post some pictures hopefully.

hmmmm twin M112's that would be kinda cooooolll....
noooooooooooooooo...
just one, two would be a little much!
Its going to be mounted like any other Eaton you see on factory cars.
I've got a intake cut and decked. I've got a spare set of fuel rails to butcher. a spare throttle body with an elbow that bolts to the back of the blower, and spare injectors.
I'm still seeking a cheap FMU (speed density 93 LT1, no 749 swap capabilites because of the all mighty opti spark)
The only thing i've got to do now is have the injector bosses redrilled in my stock manifold to clearance the blower. I need the injectorbosses straight 90 degrees verticle.

I've been looking at some custom rotor mods. If I can convince him to do it I think I could get it to move the same air at about 12000-13000rpm as it is now at 18000, which in theory should allow him to tickel the low 10's turning it at the speed he's turning it now.
Do you have the M112 in your hands? I'd like to see side by side pictures... as far as I can tell from the eaton drawings of them the case should be substantially larger, but with a shorter snout. I'd still rather cut up his passenger side inner fender and strut tower and wedge one of those in.

Spinning at 12K you should have enough airflow for about 1000hp

Little update on the Bu.
Couldn't make the filter box work the way I wanted, so I have switched to K/N cones perched over the inner wheel houses. Adjusted the DS eaton forward an 1/8th to fix an alignment problem and welding a bead on the tubes (for hose retention).
Getting the brakes and chassis finished and checked.
Most of all waiting for warmer weather..
BW
Oh... been kicking of going AWD next.

Crossfire,
Find eatons website and click on information about the M112,
Its the same width as a M90, shorter (up and down) but a touch longer.
The bad thing is the position of the intake to the blower
The m112 has an internal bypas valve too
