50hp shot or no?

50hp shot or no?

ill soon be doing some major mods to my 305 this summer including heads, cam, intake and carb...would throwing a 50hp shot on this car be alright? with only a 50shot would i even need to retard the timing?

Of course you should! But beware, after you get a taste of the 50hp shot you're gonna want more


You don't have retard the timing for only 50hp, but I like to stay on the safe side and did just for peace of mind.

i know i will want more thats the bad thing but i really dont wanna go over a 75 shot till i get a 350 or whatever

You should be fine with a 75 shot too.Just be careful with your timing and look for the warning signs and constantly check the plugs.

im going to buy a timing light this thursday and mess with my timing on the TBI till i get rid of it...soon as i get the money my cars getting an edelbrock intake, carb, distributer and probably a cam to

If you're thinking about a cam and getting serious with nitrous, you might want to consider the comp cams nitrous hp cams. They're really supposed to help and have a mean idle

a nitrous cam would be nice but remember, with speed density TBI system there are only a handful of cams to choose from that dont require custom chip tuning
