Building an Engine

Alright I have a 91' TBI 305. At the moment my Torque Converter went. So now i have to decide what to do as far as just getting a new one or rebuilding the trans also so i dont have to go through the trouble later b/c it has 100,000 miles on it.....I want to possibly build a 350 or 327 to go with the Rebuilt Trans. My question is, if i change to a 350/327 with the intent of putting a supercharger or turbo on in the future should i change to a TPI system? I herd that there arent any made for TBI?? I want to put out a real nice amount of power up around 400-500 HP if not more but i drive it around alot so i dont want to go too crazy.

Whats would be my best option? 350 or 327? TBI or TPI? Turbo or supercharger? OR should i just build the engine w/o these applications? ANY sugestions or ideas would be great appreciated b/c im so confused on what i want.

THANKS,
John

If you contact ATI they can custom piece a kit together for you, which is what I am doing right now. So far in the install the only problems I have ran into is that you cannot use the single fan setup. The pulley causes clearancing problems with it. You have to go with either a slim aftermarket one, or a dual factory one. The TBI bonnet they provide will also need slight modification.

As far as the TBI vs. TPI, you are only going to open a HUGE can of worms by asking that.

Go the cheap route, get a carb. No really, the whole TBI-TPI debate is as old as dirt. Whatever is better for your situation is what I would suggest. I know TPI parts are expensive, but can't say about TBI stuff. Just do what you want to do.
