Detonation problems maybe. Any ideas?

I did some plugs today in the firebird and they looked a little peppered.. It was only on the top bridge of the plug, not on the porcilyn. It could have been carbon, but I'm curious if I'm running too much timing, or too hot a plug.

Flat top forged pistons, 9.0:1 compression, with a vortech.. I'm running 38 degrees total timing, and then I take out a degree for every point with the BTM..

I was running 45's plugs at .035 gap, but I switched tonight to 43's with the same gap.

Any suggestions?

maybe lower the timing some......

personally i went through every plug manufacturer known to man and i ended up liking to use autolites

i ran 2 stage colder on my stock 89 iron heads with 12psi of intercooled ATI boost on 9.3:1 and the plugs always looked good until i ran lean BOOM

they were autolites 24 i believe, 26 is stock heat range

Interesting. Well perhaps the 43's (delco) will work a little better. Autolite huh? those are normally perdy cheap. hehe.

I'll try this , and maybe kick the timing down a little.

Thanks!
