nitrous plates on a dual plane intake ?'s
nitrous plates on a dual plane intake ?'s
well i was looking at trying a carb spacer on my car...and i found out that you cant use the "open" spacers if you have a dual plane intake...at least thats what i have read. and i was planing on getting nitrous next spring, an was thinking about the plate.....it is a "open" plate. if its open, doesnt that hurt performance, since you have a dual plane intake? someone please clear this up for me.

You will loose some of the tuning effect of a full Dual Plane intake.
Mostly this will reduce low rpm cruiseing effiency and torque.
Wether this results in an over all reduction in actual performance
is going to be car specific.
Most 4bbl nitrous plates are only 1/2 inch thick so the loss
won't be that bad if any.
Some high performance dual plane intake designs actually
are what's called a "Modified Dual Plane design" where the divider is partially removed in the plenum. this usually increases high rpm power at the expense of low rpm torque.
Allows each cylinder to draw off the whole carb instead
of just 2 barrels.
I wouldn't loose sleep over it.

you will notice on nitrous plate, the spraybars will continue the divider, so they dont really hurt anything.

hey for the un-initiated, I can understand how you could make that kind of mistake, actually some of the NX kits dont have a bar down the middle instead they have sets down each side (still front to rear though).
i just thought that casue i have never put one on or anything, and all the plate systems i see, the selenoids are on the side of the carb...not the front or back., not like its hard to run wires to the front or back though

i always thought that the spray bar went the width of the car and no the lenght.
