MAF with Turbo?

Anyone using a MAF with their turbo TPI in here? Would it be better to switch to speed density?

A stock TPI MAF is restrictive but more than that you will "max it out" when you get much over about 350 HP. Meaning, the ECM will see 255 grams/sec and it won't go any higher becuase the ECM can't understand a figure larger than that. So the actual airflow into the engine will still be rising but the ECM will think it's only 255 g/s, and keep putting in enough fuel to match that figure. So you can rul it lean at higher RPMs. You can trick it out with computer programming to avoid this, but it's a crutch, not a solution.

There are many on this board who understand MAF systems and the ECM that goes with them much better than I do, so you might want to find some of them and ask again.

Even with a TPIS modified high flow MAF there wasn't much "head room" left on a ~400HP small block I built a few years ago. Plus the actual claibration of the MAF was different from stock by virtue of the porting done to the unit so the fuel curve was, well, close but not perfect.

That's the long way around the barn to say Yes.
