converting a nos 5151 to carb???
hi..... iv'e decided to go with a speed demon carb, and originally had a tpi with the nos 5151 kit....... does anyone know how or what i will have to do to convert this nos kit to a carb kit??? i know a new plate will be needed obviously, but jetting and such for a kit that was intended for a 30 psi pressure......
any suggestions???
also the car now has 10.3:1 on chevron 93 octane.... will a 100hp shot be too much with a comp xe282hr cam with a 112 lsa???
thanks for all your help in this matter!!!!

ther is a partial kit which includes the super powershot plate, a set of super powershot jets, and two plumbing pieces. it is NOS part #12530 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=28403

You will have to regulate it down to the needed pressure of the carb and plate around 6 PSI. I suggest using a "return" style "carburated pressure" regulator. That way you can use the same lines your "return" style "EFI presure" TPI regulator used before you removed it. With more than one output (they usually have) you will be able to hook a fuel pressure safety switch, the nitrous fuel selenoid, and the carb to it. If you have a aftermarket EFI fuel pump in the tank then good. If you only have a good stock pump that is alright too. Stock pumps put out about 125-150 "Liters Per Hour" or (LPH). That is as the rated pressure of 30 to 40 psi. they produce much more when flowing at lower psi like carbed pressures. You may actually be able to run the engine and a 100 hp shot this way but I usually recommend a dedicated fuel system just for the nitrous system taking fuel from an added, dedicated line from the tank. When I say carburated return style regulator, I dont mean some $30 holley special. They arent even designed to be used as return style. Here are some regulators both carb and EFI (get a carbed one) http://216.242.145.16/products/product.phtml?p=15 or http://216.242.145.16/products/product.phtml?p=18 but this second one is a bit large.

yep
i ordered a mallory 3 port regulator also....... i was going to tie into the line going to the carb or the fuel....
if i have understood you correctly i have to have a 40psi pressure for the fuel solinoid?

no, you will no longer be running EFI pressures any where under your hood, because the kit for the NOS plate I showed you comes with the super powershot carb pressure (around 6 psi) jets this allows you to run the same PSI to the carb and selenoid. my last post is a detailed explanation of how to turn your engine compartment to carbed fuel pressure using the pump in your tank that previously pumped EFI pressures. A pump is dumb it doesnt care that you are going to use it to pump at carbed pressures now.BTW, as soon as that mallory gets to you send it back. They suck. the return orafice is is too small to allow for proper return, I have had to take them off of many problematic customer cars because of pressure creep. A regulator swap fixed all of them. I used to recommend them until I spent too many hours chasing ghost fuel pressure problems on customer cars. It was explaned to me that at one time they were under recall years ago (for what I dont know) but I have senn the newest ones exhibiting the problem I just stated.
