Supercharging and Speed Density...

Assuming you have a 92 Z28 with the LB9 and you slap a Vortech on it, what all needs to be done to the ecm or whatever to get the whole thing to function right? I'm guessing larger injectors, fuel pump, afpr... but what about the intake and throttle body?

Not much. Typically supercharger kits come with an FMU that increases fuel line pressure in relation to intake boost usually at the ratio fo about 4-6 PSI of fuel line pressure for every 1 PSI of boost pressure. The engine and ECM have no way of knowing the motor is in boost since the stock MAP sensor can't read more than 1 bar of pressure (normal atmospheric pressure). The FMU is a mechanical/analog way of compensating for the extra air with extra fuel via increased fuel pressure.

THis method puts extra strain on the fuel pump since it has to move more fuel and at higher pressure to keep up. Make sure you have a good quality, high volume electric fuel pump. The 1st rule of superchargers is: NEVER run lean. Not once, not a little, not ever.

Switching to a 2-bar MAP sensor and having the ECM reporgrammed to work with it is another way to go, and theoretically a better and more accurate way, but also much more costly.
