power adders with high mileage

I have a '91 GTA with a 105,000 mile LB9. It doesn't knock or anything, but it does burn a bit of oil on startup (the usual). Would it be safe to put the Vortech supercharger on this engine before rebuilding the LB9? By the time I'm able to get the Vortech, it'll likely have closer to 120-125,000 miles on it. Thanks!

"Will it be safe" is a very very loose term. There's nothing safe about increasing cylinder pressure to any engine in the first place, let alone on a high mileage engine that already burns oil.

For a second, imagine the hours of labor, money and inconvenience you're going to go through to put on the blower and get all the issues ironed out. As soon as you do that, now you're speeding up the rate at which your bottom end would fail without the blower.

How long will it last? 5k, 10k, 20k, 30, 40, 50k more miles? Any one of those answers is possible. The question is, say the motor pops 5000 miles later. Now are you happy about your decision? Do you have enough money left to immediately put a new short block in, or do you think it might be more intelligent to wait until the motor needs replaced anyway and make that a priority instead of a supercharger kit on a tired motor.

I'm sure you've thought of this stuff but unless you have enough money to deal with the worst case scenario, it may not be worth the cost vs. payback.
