Where to find Aluminum Planks?? Paging Saturn5!!

Hey,

I can't find anyone to supply me a piece of 5052 or 6061 AL (alloy isn't critical) with these demensions 10.25x16.25x0.375

Anyone have any good suppliers??

A local guy wanted $116

Rooster - Call your metal scrap dealers locally. AL sells for under $3/lb for large lots, and should be well under $10/lb if you get hosed. The cost depends on how accurate it must be. If it can be 3/8" thick billet, about 10" x about 16", it'll be much less expensive than if they need to machine it to .375x10.2500x16.2500. You might get lucky and find a piece of bar stock that's 12" wide x long enough. In either case, you could buy a scrap piece of 3/8" thick bar stock, take it to a local machine shop, and have them mill it to size for less than $116. Most billets you'll find will be 6061.
