Newbie that needs help

Hello Everyone,
I'm going to buy an 87 gta with ablown piston in it. Costs me 800$ Car is in good condition and the body is almost perfect. I was making this a project car but i dont want to spend ALOT of money on it. I'm Rebuilding the motor, i think, or should I just Put a different one in it. What kind of internals should i rebuild it with? I have headers and gutted cat and flowmasters on it but im going to get a borla catback i think but I want some power. Do you think just get forged internals and throw like a 200/250 shot on it or are there better options. I'm looking to get in teh mid 12's and still be able to drive it on the weekends or out for a ride, like a fun play car cause i have a beater for work. I'm new to this american muscle thing I have perviously owned 2 3000gt vr4 i wrecked on with a deer and teh otehr one which had around 500 hp never dyno'd so its a rough estimate got repoed With an accident 500$ a month for insurance just cant be paid plus a car payment. Anyways please help me. Also im putting in a t56 tranny and it has 410 gears which im going down to 373;s i think 410s are just to much. Help me build a car here I'm going to do it all at once so let me know what i need. I'm going to race but street racing not track. sorry bout teh length. Thanks for your help.

Well if you are ever going to put a power adder such as N2o or a supercharger it is a must that the pistons be forged. It reallly depends on how far you think you will go. I myself for daily driver would go with a decent cast crank, rods and cam (480-490). Some clevite 77 bearings and drive it. Summit Racing has good prices on rebuild kits and they allow you to upgrade individual parts such as pistons. I would stay with the setup that you already have becasue its a roller setup that is good for the street. Good luck.
