ATTN: WILLIE, i need HELP!

hey man,
i am lookint to build a similar motor to yours, i will eventually run a pro-charger (blow-thru carb setup) on this too. i am trying to copy your bottom end. i see that you are using the TRW pistons. are you running a floating pin? i am currently looking at the TRW p/n L2486F pistons. are these the same as yours? they claim 9.23:1 compression, which is what your is, right? i hope you don't think i am stalking you. i am just trying to get this motor together as quickly as possible. i am running the Eagle H-beam rods with bronze bushings. i got them from cnc-motorsports for $285.95 shipped. the pistons are $359 from flatlanderracing.com. where did you purchase yours? were they cheaper?

i apologize for all the questions, but, help a brother out! thanks again.

Have a look at the post about a 4 bolt main 305. In there you will see that Willie is in the process of changing over everything in the engine. The TRW pistons and long gone.

yeah, i found it. but for a set of floating pin, forged, 9:1 pistons for a 305, Ross wants $755 and JE wants $880. can't justify that for a street motor. Willie paid over $500 for those APBA pistons and they are pressed fit. those TRW's are no longer available, anywhere. i am going to buy a set of cast replacement .030 pistons and the Eagle SIR rods. no use in spending a ridicuslous amount of money on a 305.

The JE pistons I bought can be installed either way, pressed or full floating. You might want to give JE a jingle. The P/N is 174002.

i already called them, did your pistons come with the wrist pins and spiral locks to install them in a floating application? and did they come with the spiral lock groves already in them? cause JE said that they are pressed fit only. either way, I still can't justify that much money in a street motor. thanks soooo much for the info. and good luck with the new setup...did you ever get her fired?
