Fuel cell for third gens

I've been corrasponding with a guy that makes coustoms cells.I'm going to get him to make one that fits down in the well area of the back hatch. It would be shaped kinda like a drop in speaker box that most guys use so they can have 12in subs in there car.
For a firewall to cover the cell you would have to make a door that go's across that back area kinda like the ones that some third gen's came equipped with that covers the rear well area.Except it would need to be metal. The fuel line fittingswould come out the bottom and you would have to cut small holes in the lower welll area to send your fuel lines out of the car and to your pump. This guy carrys the foam that can be added for less than $10 and he has someone that makes coustom senders so your fuel guage will still work. This best part, the cost for the fuel sell with foam should be in the $75-150 area.I'm thinking the cell will be around 10 gallons.I'll let ya guys know price and volume asap.I've got to send him a diagram of the size, shape, diminsions for a price turnaround time etc and will post as soon as I get the info.I know he makes metal and plastic cells and I'll get a price for both.

I am interested. I was going to have one custom made, or make it myself, let me know how hard it was and how it goes.

I'm also making a cell as we speak, out of .062 sheet aluminum. I was wondering about the foam? what kind do you use? where do you get it? how is it applied?

I sent the guy the measurments today for a cell. They we're LxWxH--(43x14x7).I compared it to a 12 gallon and it's a bit bigger so I'm guessing in the 16 gallon range. He said he can make it out of aluminum, and should be letting me know on a price and time it's gonna take to build.

that is made by Tony DeSlow (Dequick) from www.chargedair.com

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BY ANYTHING FROM THIS MAN DIRECTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOWEVER.....

www.ls1speed.com sells their products and if you ordered through them, THEN you would receive it. Problem is that he only makes them for 4th gens now. I dont think he's ever made one for a thirdgen. Call up www.ls1speed.com and ask

it takes 2-4 weeks and its a little pricey but the advantage is that you can have it built however you want (intank or sump setup) and you can have it built for whatever size you want (even a 6 gallon cell for only drag racing)

Also another advantage is that since it is in the stock location you do not need to made a firewall for the rear hatch

How much foam do you get for $6.75? I need for at least 16 gallon capacity. Also where on E-Bay do you go to find this guy?

Another question I have is what grade aluminum are you guys using to make your cells? Is 6061 grade good enough?

Several have determined that the filler neck length is the difference between the 3rd and 4th gen tanks, order it straight from LS1speed. Where I found it, was just having some fun with suspense before telling, modify the neck, drop in a 4th gen pump assembly and voila

Email from LS1speed:
Nothing is available for 3rd gens. The 4th gen tank may fit, but I do not know for certain.

The foam is buy it now at $6.50 and measures 9x7x4. The seller go's buy competitioncoat,He's also the guy makeing the cell.
He said I need to fax him a drawling to show where the fill cap and fittings go.It's being made out of aluminum and he said the cell with fittings and fill cap is $235 and a custom made sender for the guage will be $65,plus shipping.I think that price is fair . since it's made out of aluminum.I'm going to have him send me some pics of some he's made and if they look pretty good then I'm going to go ahead and have him build me one.

I was thinking of taking my speaker box, which is a perfect fit for the trunk area, to my local boat shop and having them weld me up a fuel cell in that shape, that way it would take up the most possible room for fuel, and fit perfectly. i would probably make a new box with the bottom cut off so i could put speakers on top of it, to hide it. i would run it with the factory tank too...

I know i need firewall to protect incase of accident, and i know the tank has to be double-walled. this is just a thought.

The guy said that he's got a couple to make ahead of mine that it should take 2-3 weeks.I've got to send him a deposit and then he'll make it and send me pics when it's done.Once I get the pics I'll post them and some later when I get it, also some once it's mounted in my car.
