TT TA-84, small progress but then...someone died.
Hello all.
The conversion from carb to EFI is coming along, I've started on the injector boss'es and been running the lathe for the first time. I've taken some pictures of the custom made dump valve and wastegates. As you can see in the pictures, these can be done at home if you own a lathe and a mill.
A sad thing though, I have together with my 59 year old father been collecting machines and materials for a few years now, so that he'll have something to do when he retires. Sorry to say is that only a few weeks after I got the lathe installed at his garage, and also got the mill at the right spot - my father died due to cancer.
I now have a lot of machineshop parts standing in a garage that my mother is about to sell within 6 months. I can't buy the house from her because I work so far away. The whole world is turned upside down again - sometimes I just hate this game called life that we all are gonna lose.
My father got me into this Twin Turbo project and now he won't be able to see how it turns out, and he won't be able to build the "marine steam engine" that he has been dreaming of for several years.
Sorry if I get a little out of line here but I just wanted to tell someone.
Anyway, here are some pictures:

Thanks for listening

Anders,
Sorry to hear about your father.
It looks like you've made some good progress with your small machine shop. Hang onto it if you can, because selling everything will probably be something you regret.
As for the parts - I'd mill the openings for the dump (Blow Off Valve) a bit larger, to the atmosphere.
Andris

Thanks Andris.
I'm actually about to move even further away from my "parents house", to Stockholm (capitol of Sweden) where it's very hard to get a garage or even a place to live. But I have promised myself to NOT let go of the lathe, and preferably not the mill either, but the mill is one heavy big piece of iron (about 2000 lb).
As can be seen in some pictures, the garage is a total mess with lots of junk but also a lot of good stuf. 2 MIG/MAG machines, a big air compressor. A giant pile of hand tools. Almost everything needed to have REAL fun.

The bad order in the garage is mostly due to my father being ill since 2000 and me working 170 miles away (only at home saturday/sunday) and I live 15 miles from their house). And during weekends I like to spend time with my fiancee Anette.
In januari this year I swaped rearends on my fathers Volvo 740 OUTSIDE becuase of the full garage. It was (-26.5 Celsius, or -15.7 Farenheit). I will never do such a thing again, never.
About the blow-off valve, you're right. I talked to a guy that had a similar valve and he modified it with bigger holes on his Audi 200 Turbo Quattro. It's got a piston about 1 inch in diameter and a spring with HIGH load - I really hope it'll work... We'll see next year.

Im sorry to hear about your father, I know exactly how that feels. My mother was just diagnosed with cancer this July, shes only 45 years old and they are giving her 6 months to a year to live. I really feel for you and I hope your project goes well, your father will be looking down on it and watching out for you and will be proud on the day you drive it down the street.

Thanks everyone - I'll try to find a small garage so I can install the mill and lathe + some other stuff. I really like working with these machines. There are so many things to do and so little time.
