Thinking about Nitrous For GTA.

HI guys. First post.

ANyway. Right now I'm in a 84 TA witha 305 HO. Its great car but a littl eunderpowred. Its also a little past its time and is covered in scratches. I'm looking into getting a GTa as my first car. (I learned on the TA).

I've been reading upo on teh TPI and ive seen it can take a decent shout of nitrous stock. But exactly how much is good for the street? And also I'm sure youve all seen the GTA hood. WOuld the purge looks better through the forward louvers or the rear vents? I would prefer the engine bay vents behind the wheel well but alas there are none on the GTA.

I'm also looking at running a TT setup some time in the future. How much Boost can the TPI handle? DO the internals tend to give way early? I'm hoping not but in another way I am so I can tear the block out and give it a nice coat of pontiac blue.

Thanks for the help.

I'd says the most I'd run is probably around a 100 shot. Not saying you cant run more, but no need to risk it unless you want to mess it up.

If you are going to the trouble of a twin turbo setup, i'd do it on a 350, or atleast beef up the 305 and put in some pretty radical parts so you can rev it a little bit, but by this point, the block will be holding you back from making any decent power (for tt setup that is).

I say, throw a 100 shot on, and keep raising it until you blow your 305 to pieces. Then, while this is happening, start building up a nice 350 or 400 blocks. Decent forged pistons, maybe some nice rods, get the crank checked out, strengthen the block a little and you have yourself a reliable 600hp shortblock for 1500$ or so (thats a pretty good deal, because your next upgrade is going to be 1500$ just for the block). I'd convert to a carb setup, will really save you some headaches and will make more power then your tpi will ever dream of (not to mention huge savings).

I'd say you could do a new shortblock with maybe like a vortec top end for probably 5k including turbo's and all. Really isnt too bad of a price if you do this in a year period. Just throwing out idea's for you, you could probably always pull your 305 apart a little and make the twin turbo kit for it and make 350-400hp possibly more but really wouldnt be worth the risk.

I was talking about the TPI 350.
Thanks for all the help though. IF I ever do retire the thing into a racer it time for the zz502.
