I took these a month or so ago. Then I ripped evrything apart (removed the btm/fmu, switched ECM's, ported the intake, etc) but it gives you a general idea.

I found this picture on your site.
I don't think the hood is any lower than the yellow line.
I think that it is possible to fit a 2.5" pipe there.
If so, then you only need a U-bend to get boost pipe behind the left headlight.

Hey I got another question for you guy's. Might be the wrong place to post, but since so many are reading this thread....
I'm getting oil blowout from my valve covers. I've tried everything to relieve the pressure but still doesn't help. Most recently I added a breather on the drivers side, along with routing my secondary pcv valve back into the blower intake and I'm getting oil blowing out of the breather. Any solutions?

Gotcha, the blowby was my guess, I was just wondering if anyone else was having the problem, and or found a way to fix it. I seriously don't think I can vent anymore than I am, so I'm at a loss.

It is a Procharger F1R but the pipe routing could be used with a Vortech too.

Okay, Personally, i don't like it that way too much clutter.. And yes,. i DO have an ATI 3-core that is going to get hitched up w/ my straight discharge vortech s/c. It is possible and as it was explained to me,.. not that hard. It can be done other ways,. remember there is always a way!.
Anyway, I just finished assembling my shortblock,..and i am getting married this march,.. but i will have the car up and running with the ati intercooler by late spring or early summer at the latest. '91 formula has this setup on his car and it's up and running,.. I am going to try to get pics emailed to me now,.. and i'll post them. I will also go see his car in person before i do mine,.. because he happens to live in the same town that i work in. As he explained it,.. it is very easy and will work like a charm,, and follow the same routing as the ATI setup. The other two ways that are shown are not as nice of a finished product,.. so i am determined to do it the ati way,.. and it should actually involve no custom piping. i will keep you all posted,.. but cant get to work on it till the motor is back in. all you have to do is "re-clock" the blower,.. and do a little grinding on the mounting bracket,.. otherwise,. he said it fits and doesn't hit anything. definately not the strut tower.

Actually those last set of pictures look awesome. If i move the battery back to the other side, and run the IC there with a small fan on it, hell yeah.
thanks!
thanks!
There you go anesthes...Looks like you can get it done that way...
Can you still post those pics when you get them...I'm still working ideas for my Z, although the one Jeff posted seems like my best option, just wanna see what else is out there.

Sorry guys, I haven't been on the board in a while.
I managed to take a few quick pics today of the bracket modification with the blower mounted. I have a cheep camera so I hope these are good enough.
BTW the car has been sitting in this state for quite a few months. I hope to get started soon and complete the intercooler installation. I will post it progress, as this project finally moves along.
Justin: Here ya go. The first actual shots of the Vortech compressor housing rotation.

Nice,.. finally some pics,..Very Nice! Glad to see that it can actually be done,..now the question is,.. who's gonna have there's running first,. you or me? I have just finished building the shortblock,. but i'm still waiting on the heads before i drop the motor in. is there room for the air intake duct to fit around the disharge ducting,.. and hood clearance? Godd job man,. can't wait to see it! email me when you have it running,.. munks@optonline.net either that or i'll call you when i'm ready,.. getting married in a few weeks,.. so I won't be putting the motor in till after... thanks man
Yeah, I'm interested in reading about the results too. I'm also running a Vortech S-Trim with the straight discharge and I hope to be running an intercooler too soon. And I'm also having the same problem with oil leaking out of my breathers hahaha.

Sorry guys. It seems like this project will never get done. Most of my time is spent remodeling my house.
I am in the process of fabbing up some new fuel lines though. I need to re locate my aux. fuel pump and FMU.

PS.....if you want to do a fm without mounting it parallel to the ground, you have to do a little surgery to the nose......like build your own support and what not......look in this thread, this is how i did it for my F1-R

You could also use my measurements and buy one of the few nice cheap ones that exist on EGay.
Some are listed in the following post. The attachment in the first post (by me) shows very detailed measurements of the core support area. Want to check to see if the intercooler you are looking at will fit without taking apart your car? read this post.

Your measurements are what I used to get an IC for my formula when I had it. Though if I did it again, i'd go with a bottom mount ATI style. Had too many issues with having to modify the fan brackets, cutting part fo the body to fit the 3" IC plumbing, etc. I had fun though.

Here is a link. The only thing I never liked was the 90 silicone bend I used off the blower. An alum bend woulda been better but, I was losing interest in the project by then.

what size IC did you go with joe? did you go with the one that is mentioned in that thread? did it help enough?

With the minimal testing I did, the IC reduced IAT temps to about ambient during boost. The alky/water injection worked MUCH better. Plus, the length of tubing, IC itself overall restricted boost some. Even a nice 3" core IC, 3" piping, mandrel bends simply dropped boost to well under the 12psi I was running, to maybe around 8-9psi.
I used a 24x3xlike 12 or something like that. Check the other thread where I posted info, and you'll find the exact measurments. I sold it to a forum member. might have been Mr_dude, I can't remember.
I sold the blower when I parted out the firebird. I wanted to see how fast a n/a vette would go, and intend on using nitrous eventually.
