im just not getting the whole thing wiht the intercoolers why do you need them?? is it for th eturbos or does it just keep the engine cool? could someone show me a pic of all the pipes that you need to put on a turbo and where they go? Im interested in getting twin turbos because they are so cheap and stock just isnt cutting it!!!

 

intercoolers act like a radiator for air.... compressed air from the turbos enters the ic hot and the intercooler drops the boosted air temps by quite a lot in most cases..... the cooler you can get the air b4 it enters the engine the better. hot air = less hp and higher chances of detonation..... to simplify it.

theres a pic in my sig of twins on my truck project but doesn't show the pipe routing well, I'm sure others on the forum here could show better.....

"Turbochargers" by Hugh Macinnes

"Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell

After you read these books, you will have a pretty firm grasp on the concept. But be careful, turbochargers have been proven addictive.
