Turbo oil supply lines coming from oil temp sender hole
Turbo oil supply lines coming from oil temp sender hole
I have a late-model (86+) block, and it has a hole above the oil filter that I believe is a temp sender hole that sees full pressure from the pump. My question: is that hole sitting BEFORE or AFTER the filter? If it's before, then I certainly plan to add an inline oil filter on the lines going to the turbos. So?
If it's post filter, then I'm set. I already managed to pull the plug out and have the fittings to run the lines.
Thanks,
Sam

This port is fed with full pressure, filtered oil from the main oil galley. It is often used for an oil pressure sending unit. This would be a good place to tap for turbo lubrication. I actually T'd my turbo lube lines offf of the oil pressure sending unit, which (on my 89 IROC-Z) is just above the oil filter. I didn't tap into the port behind the intake because that is a very tight area in the Camaro chassis. Maybe your Z has more room in that area.
You should post pics of your turbo system when your finished.. For some reason I have always been interested in american V8s in the Nissan Z cars. I am even more interested when a turbo is thrown in!

I just reread your post. I see you are planning to use the same port I used (the one above the filter). I don't know why I thought you were talking about the one behind the intake. Anyway, as far as I know, that is post-filter. I hope so anyway, because I don't have an inline filter in my turbo lube lines! My turbos were happy for 5k miles so far.
