Intercooled folks, MAT temperatures

Curious if some of you guys could share your MAT data with me for my notes.

Lets say its 45-50f out.

What is your mat's at roughly 10psi boost?

I was experimenting with water/alky injection last night.

I am not running 10 lbs but it is around 8-8.5. I noticed on a 65 degree day, a run in 4th gear to redline raised my iats to 72 degrees. That is over 120mph so it is getting some good airflow. I don't know what the temps would be with a full 1/4 mile pass.

I have a question about your datalog, How are your running with your injectors that static? I'm sure there's more to what I'm seing, I'm also assumming the AFR is just the requested AFR and not your actual.

Ahhhhh , just read your other post, man your brave. When I go static with my TBI setup the oil pressure goes nuts, and I believe it goes stupid lean, cause the motor just hits a brick wall and does all kinds of nasty stuff. I don't have a WB yet to verify. I have a feeling that the TBI ecm's tend to just shut off the injectors once you go static, but the MPI setups just max out.

By MAT, what do you mean? I thought you meant mass air temp.

My MAF is in about the stock location(distance from tb) and is stock. My iat sensor is in the stock location(about 3" from the tb) and is stock. I hope that helps.

I'm not running boost yet but rigged it so my MAT (Manifold Air Temp) sensor shows it's temp in F in my datastream. The stock MAT seems to be in the perfect spot, inside the TPI plenum just towards the rear, so why not use it instead of adding another in a not as good spot. Plus have to run extra wires and guages, etc. When I do add boost I was simply going to use this to guage how well my IC'ers are working.

Right now with an outside air temp of 60* F, at full temp (185* F) my MAT reading is between 97* and 101* F depending how long I'm stopped Vs. driving.

Sorry, I guess I should have been more clear to who I was talking to but it's good to hear from you to. MAT=(Manifold Air Temp) just like 92GTA was saying.

That's where I have mine but on a full boost run in 4th gear up to 6000 rpm's and with 16Ibs of boost I go from 90* to only 94* then after the run for about 7 seconds you can still see the temps rise to 99*. I really don't think my 3 core intercooler is that good at keeping the temps down so I'am not to sure what to do. Maybe I'll try this out https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ight=hairdryer

Here's a thread with a similar sensor configuration :

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=136007

About half way down, it says it came from a V6 application. I'm not sure of the application differences between the "plastic" and "metal" caged sensors. I know I bought a sensor about 6 months ago with the metal cage just asking for a 1990 V6 F-car application.

I should have mentioned I have an LT1 so my iat sensor is in a different spot. I can't see the iat sensor working to its potential in a tpi car in stock location. The manifold transfers too much heat to the sensor and skews the actual air temp.

Try moving it out of the manifold completely and closer to the incoming air(also keep it shielded from radiator air).
