Underhood roots
I was reading the "Camaro Performance Handbook" by David Shelby and it briefly mentioned something about a low-profile roots blower that could fit under a stock hood. Does anyone know more about this?

About the only way you are getting a roots under the hood is a magnacharger setup, and preferribly on an LS1.

Read the book more carefully, it says "under the hood of a late model Camaro", and nowhere states "stock hood". It will fit under a Camaro hood, but it will require a raised cowl Camaro hood. It will fit under a 2.5" barely, with the right aircleaner - I've seen it done. But 4" would be better.
He's just stating that you can conceal a blower under a hood in a late model Camaro, and not have to cut a hole for clearance. He should have clarified that a little better. The "low profile" blower he refers to is the 142/144 blower, which is much shorter than a 6-71 or 8-71 setup.
There are a lot of important omissions in that book, not to mention that it's horribly outdated.
