Roots Blower

Is anyone running a roots style supercharger? What are the pros and cons to them?

Roots blowers have high intake air temperatures. Thats one of the biggest cons, but they have instant boost.

Stack the blower on top of a rigged up AC system that can be operated via switch in the cockpit to bring the temps waaaaaaaaay down.... just an idea... I believe the new Ford Lightnings are working on some sort of system like this to chill the compressed air.

Yes, ford lightnings have an intercooler under the blower. That seems to work pretty good too. But not like and air to air intercooler, at least for the street.

I know the lightnings use an intercooler, as that makes perfect sense. What I meant was that the new ones will incorporate the AC system into the intercooler, to super chill the air. They claim around 50 extra horsepower. Check out novembers hotrod:

I have always thought about doing that. I thought the lower intake temps wouldn't over come the hp loss on running the a/c compressor though. I guess it does. Unless it somehow does it with out the a/c compressor on all the time.

Ford is discontuning the new Lightning. They are doing this because they want to focus on the new cobra and get that out first, because they believe it will be a better seller than the truck.
