Just ordered a Procharger

Well I finally saved up enough cash to purchase a supercharger, I Went with the P1SC procharger with the 9 pound pulley. I wanted some suggestions on tuning, Is the FMU that is provided with the kit any good(is it accurate and trouble free)? Should I look into having custom chip made? Is this better than the FMU or necessary? Should I look into purchasing a wideband 02 sensor, and if so which do you guys recomend? The Tech that I ordered the kit from recommended that I take it to a shop and have it dyno tuned, but this sounds expensive. However this car is a daily driver, and I want to do the job right so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The car is a 1989 Iroc with the 350(stock bottom end)
SLP intake Runners, Accel FPR, Accel coil, cap,MSD 8.5mm wires,K&N filters, Air foil, Power Pulleys, Headers with high flow cat and 3 inch exhaust.

Congrats on the new purchase! I completely agree with the tech. Take it and get it dyno tuned when your done with the install. If they use a wide band air fuel meter and discover a problem, it would better to find out then, than drive around with it running lean and destroying your engine.

I put a p1sc on my 305 firebird in oct. It preformed well, however, I was not crazy about the fmu idea. I was going a bit leaner (12.9) according to my WB on a long boosted pull. My injectors were just about keeping up with my non boosted motor, now with more fuel demand and the FMU maxed out it was on the fringe for me. If I didn't have a WB I would not have probably noticed.

I decided to ditch the FMU and go with 60lb injectors and a $58 (boosed computer programming) where I will be able to see what is going on above a map of 100.

When I got the kit I figured I would give the FMU a try, however, since I am pretty particular about knowing what my engine is doing all of the time, the nonboosted computer setup and FMU was not for me.

Another convert. Cool!

Have you given $60 a try yet?

Still working with the $58, haven't done the wiring swap, probably in about a month or 2 still have mechanical stuff to do.
I do have the $60 from Grumpy, I still need to sit down and try and digest all of the stuff in the hack. I really don't know sorce code and all I have is a trial version of tunercat and aparently the $60 file will not work with it, because everytime I tried to open it , it asked for a password, etc.

I will definately be running on of the two.

Question. Why did you choose to go all the way up to 60#? I'm planning to order mine in the next couple weeks, but am planning not to go with the FMU in favour of the larger injecotrs, non-intercooled (for now) so probably between 5-7psi to start, and I was planning on running 30#, would that be enough?

The reason I went with 60's is that way if I ever go to 383 I will not need new injectors. Plus guys like grumpy are running them and they have worked well for them.

30# with out a fmu may not be enough. With a stock 305 you probably will be ok, however, unless you are getting the injectors for a steal, I would go with #36 at least. This way you should be ok. All of this of course, requires programming your own chips.

Hmmm, who even makes 36'ers anymore? I suppose there'd be nothing wrong going up to flow-matched 38#'s from Precision Turbo either.

It will be going on a completely stock 85 305 with a ported plenum, ~2800-3000 Neil Chance converter, and a set of Hooker 2055's (unless I change my mind on the headers)

Let's hope the tranny can hold lol.

And come spring we'll have a dyno and chip burning/ECM flashing hardware/software, so I guess this'll determing my 'tuning' potential lol.
