How much boost?

The car, 85 Trans Am
The engine, completely stock LB9 305 TPI.
The kit, ProCharger 88-92 P-1SC, with the big 3 core intercooler upgrade. How much boost will she handle?

Fuel isn't the issue I'm concerned about, although that's another subject I'd like to hear opinions on, neither is heat that 3 core IC should more than cover that. Stock SBC bottom ends should handle somewhere between 400 - 450 before I've gotta start worrying about things coming apart ie. pistons and crank. I'm not even going to kid myself about pushing enough boost through it to break 400.

And now fuel injectors. I'm undecided if I want to use the FMU or not, and if I do go that way I'm planning to upgrade to either 22 or 24 psi; but I also heard the FMU makes dyno tuning difficult, as fuel pressure can spike one way or the other. If I do not use the FMU, what size injectors should I be looking at, 30psi I have read would work well so long as I'm staying bone stock, but if I add heads, cam, headers or such in the future, 30#ers might not be enough, so should I just go with 36# now and same myself the trouble later. Thanks for your input. Cheers!

Colin

According to ATIs chart 9.5:1 compression ratio can run around 14psi max. If your motor has a lot of miles chances are you'll want to run less.

It's only got 135000 Kms on it. I know what they say they'd run, but I'd rather hear people personal experiences, and opinions on my fuel dilema from people who have done whatever they have.

10psi is a good start I found if you can get you AFR right and timing. I never had the chance to mess with a FMU since I know how to program my own chips so I went that route. If you do learn to do your own chips then I would recommend you get 42Ibs injectors and use the 749 computer or a 730 computer with 749 code.

This next summer I'am going to be running 15-17psi depending on what rpm I'am at and well see how long she will last on a safe tune. I'll have some dyno runs and track times also comparing the 10psi pulley to my new one and I might even have a chance to slap on a mini-ram and see what that will give me, should be interesting.
