Turbo manifolds/headers
How long would a set of headers last on a turbo engine if they were made from 16 gauge exhaust pipe? I have access to a pipe bender, I have done many exhaust systems on it, but never "headers". Was wondering if the pipe would burn out shortly from the heat, or would be OK.
Thanks,
Mike
maybe even put some "Eastwoods High Temp Paint on em'"?

Hi,
I Would imagine the 16 gauge would last a long time. Brian With B&G makes his headers out of 16 gauge and has had no problems. Hopefully someone else will chime in that has built some of there own

This isn't based on personal experience, but is seems like ceramic coating makes a big difference on mild steel turbo headers' longevity. FWIW, I'm building my log headers out of mild steel and they'll be ceramic coated when I'm finished.
