Nitrous fuel system

Im assembling a 383 for my car that is going to produce between 400-450hp at the crank. Im planning on using an Edelbrock 750 carb that i have brand new and waiting something to go on. I was looking at adding the NOS Sniper system on top of it for a 150 shot. Ive read that you need 1 gph flow per 10 HP your expecting the engine to make. So i guess anything that can flow 60 GPH @ 5-6PSI would work right?

So im left with deciding between the Holley Red or Blue pump.

The car is also going to be my daily driver in anything but snow/ice, that can cut some low 12 sec passes when i want

For an extra $10, I'd get the blue. I think it would be able to keep the pressure up better when you hit the jug considering the blue is rated at 14psi instead of the 7psi that the red is rated at. And it's only $10 more.

I'd be willing to bet you'll suck the fuel bowls dry just running a Holley blue with the factory 3/8 lines.

So possibly upgrade the Feed line to a 1/2" and leave the return a 3/8 and run a holley blue? I was thinking ill just go with the Holley blue, and if im having feeding issues with a 1/2" ill do a seperate fuel cell/system for the nitrous.

At what point should i upgrade the return and the feed to 1/2"?

I was just about to say why not just run a dedicated jaz 1gallon fuel cell for race fuel for the nitrous setup.

Safe piece of mind running a dedicated system. and deff for $10bucks more the better pump. you cant go wrong with getting something a little better then needed.

I was conserned about the blue, because jegs has the Red listed for "street" and the Blue for "race" and i was wondering because of duty cycle maybe not being rated for daily use.

How loud are these things? Much louder than stock? I dont think it will really matter because its not like this car is going to be a completely street and noise compliant

i have a 1 gallon jaz cell mounted where the battery was. I could not get enough fuel pressure with holley red. Just get the blue pump. Plus the blue comes with a regulator.

I have a fuel pressure gauge on the regulator and one on the dash. When spraying the fuel pressure stays at 5.5psi.

I have basically the same setup. I run the factory 3/8" lines with a mechanical Holley 110gph pump. Pressure stays rock steady at 5.5psi. Then I have a 3 gallon fuel cell up front with a Holley blue and regulator feeding my NX hitman kit. Its about the most goof-proof way of doing a nitrous fuel system setup without forking over a ton of cash and replacing all the fuel lines under your car.

Holley Blues are fairly loud when used with their supplied regulator. With a return regulator they quiet down quite a bit. I wouldnt trust running a Holley blue as a daily driver as I went through 2 of them in less than 6 months before getting enough sense to use a mechanical. Although, I have friends who've been running them for years without problems. Guess its hit-or-miss.

Any one else having troubles with thier Holley Blues? Guess if i got electric, ill have to get another reg with a return, i was hopping the one that comes with the Blue had a return. Did you knowtice a power loss switching to a MECH pump? I was just being a little leary of them after reading they take 100-125lbs of pressure to just get one pump and after pulling out a cam that had around 145k mi on it, the pump lobe was worn about 1/8" down

i have no return on the fuel system. One side of the regulator goes to the fuel noid and the other goes to gauge on the dash. The fuel pressure does climb a bit. I dont notice any surge in power. Iam to busy trying to keep the car straight.

I used to run a electric pump. Then i switched to a mech. I didnt notice any power difference. I still have the stock fuel lines and the car runs fine. 11.3s @118 on motor 388ci.
