Hey guys I need to get rid of my multi belt setup on my '86 and swap to the later serpentine belt setup. I found a post linked to sethirdgen.org outlining the procedure and it doesnt seem that bad. my problem is, there are no TPI cars in the junkyards around here so i am having trouble finding brackets. I E-mailed hawks and they can hook me up but i wanted to look locally before i paid shipping and dealt with all that. I know brackets off a TBI v6 or v8 truck wont work, but will the serpentine setup off a TBI 305 camaro or firebird work? Thanks for the info.

 

look for tbi 305-350 caprices they are the same (usually have the high amp alt but, that's just an extra bracket which you can sell to some one with a big system

I have seen a complete kit for 600$ that comes with the belt, pulleys, water pump, powersteering pump, alt, and bracets and tensioner best of all everthing is new NOT used. it was at some fbody dot com place. sorry i dont have the name but there out there...

I believe the GM parts direct site has the GM serp. setup without the a/c unit as well- I believe it comes with a ac delete pulley.

Also check Jegs- they sell the GM serp setup sans ac unit for a very reasonable price. All new, all fasteners and brackets, AIR, water pump p/s etc...
It is a nice kit from GM.

Although, you can often find a hogged out 305 complete for the same price- but then you have to clean the components and may have to buy new accesories.

Also- if you just need the brackets, I see them on eBay from time to time. Usually overpriced
