What engine management?

I am verry seroiusly think about running Twin turbos on a 350 TPI, I have an older setup with a MAF sensor.

I'm wondering what you guys do with engine management? reprogram the PROM or go to a piggyback/ stand alone syatem?

Thanks,
Tom D

Head on over to the DIY Prom board or the ECM board and look for the 749 ECM w/ $58 code. General idea is that you either buy a used 749 ECM out of a Syclone or Typhoon or you re-pin your stock 730 speed density TPI ECM and run $58 code on either and re-tune the car. Then you'll have engine management that can account for boost and still use OEM stuff and depending on how many tuning parts you might already have (like a laptop, etc) its probably going to come out way cheaper than any standalone. Searching will give you lots of answers. Other options are standalone, cheapest would be the Holley Commander 950 for just under $1K new and then you got DFI or FAST. A somewhat unexplored option (well from what I've seen) are the piggyback units the Import guys use (Apexi or HKS, etc), though those units can usually only do so much. And the final option is to retain the stock ECM and just account for the needed fuel with a FMU or Megasquirt or something. More of a guesstimate if you ask me but to each their own. This is probably the best option if you have a MAF setup (165 ECM probably). For everything else mentioned above you need a speed density setup.

I love my Holley Commander 950. I bought the 950-101 kit (for TPI) and the Innovate Motorsports Wide band O2 LC-1 kit for my vortec TPI 350. Now I twin turboed it and it runs great because its so fast and easy to tune. One fact is that everybody comes across different opportunities for parts and prices, so the most cost effective method may vary. For example, I already owned a laptop). And no matter which method is chosen for tuning the hardest part for me was learning how to tune PROPERLY. Setting up a new engine management system can be done mostly by following directions. With tuning, every motor is different.

thats what I think.
