To SuperCharge Or Not To SuperCharge?
I am looking at a Pro-Charger with a 6-8 boost. As of now I have appox 310 horsepower, and I am running 13.5 at 99. If I got the super charger would that put me in the mid 12's with about 425 hp? I do realize that I would have to build my tranny or get an aftermarket one, also I would build the suspension. I really do not want to dig into the heads or a Cam. My main question is do superchargers hurt the life of your engine?

When I got it dynoed I got the rear wheel horsepower, then their was a 19 percent loss threw the drivetrain. So they told me it was between 305 and 310 at the crank. May not be right on but its really close.

Yes, it will hurt the life. Anything that increases the power will reduce the lifetime of the engine. Whether that's a big deal (most people catch the forced induction bug, and start thinking about their dream build once they first taste the boost, probably same with the nitrous folks too...), is up to you.

Will it hurt engine life? That's a tough question to answer.
The quick and easy answer is yes: it puts out significantly more power which puts more stress on each and every piece in the engine and adds more stress to all the parts behind the engine.
However, it doesn't have to reduce the engine life by much or even at all. If you don't over do it with the boost, and keep the car in good tune all the time, do your maintenance liek you should etc, it won't hurt all that badly.
There is always that risk though.... bottom line: what you get out of things is directly related to what you put in. If you take care of it well, it should be fine...
