s-trim at idle

anyone got a sound clip of your s-trim at idle? Maybe I'm getting old, but, this thing sounds like a freight train locking up its brakes, tryign to avoid hitting the poor farm boy that fell asleep on the tracks.

At any rpm, and under load all I hear is the whirl. But man at idle, its just soo freaking scratchy I wanna kill myself..

Gimme some time and I'll try to get a clip of my 91Z at idle. I would describe it as an extremely loud high pitch whine when at idle. Sometimes I wonder if its about to explode .... but it never does LOL

With the belt off, if you give it a quick spin by hand, how does it sound? Mine sounds a little scratchy..

My buddy just ordered a setup for his cobra, and I was hoping to compare it to mine until I noticed the part # was an SQ..

I've got a Vortech sitting in a box, and this thread is making me think twice about using it! I want a sleeper, not a jet plane.

I like the Powerdynes. I know of several guys using them and they are SO quiet.

Yeah it is normal. Mine does that too if I spin it by hand.

It's loud as hell and has been like that since the day I got it.

SQ trim is alot quieter.

Maybe the bearings in it are going out. You didnt say how old/miles were on it. Mine has about 50000 miles on it never been rebuilt(Vortech). Mine sounds like ablower should, it whines. It doesnt sound "scratchy" or anything like that. To me there is nothing cooler/better than a good blower whine when pulling into the local cruise night or next to someone in the staging lanes at the friday night Street Legal drags. My car is a cherry 89 IROC. Looks stock. The only thing that will tip you off are the drag radials, bitchin exhaust, license plate that reads 4C FED, and that great blower whine. High 7's in the 1/8, high 11's in the 1/4. Sorry, got carried away. I like the whine, cant understand people that wouldnt. Just my opinion.

Same goes for loud exhaust. Some people like it, others wonder what the benefit of being obnoxious is.

I can't STAND my blower whine. a whirl under boost is fine, it doesn't need to wake the dead at idle.

Mine is fairly loud at idle as well.... as soon as you start moving you can hardly tell it is there (sound wise that is)
