Max HP from 5151 plate? new best w/150 shot =10.0 on pump gas but....

Well run new best last week,
Sprayed it with a 150 shot still on 93 pump and set timing to 30 degrees max in prom, also used tcc output to enable @ 25 mph.
Yielded 10.09 @ 132.88 w/140 60ft.

Well figured this week (Last day) I would run 110 oct. and bring timing back to 34 degrees.
First pass 10.14 @ 132.

Then stepped up to 200 shot 82/37
No gain what so ever, 10.13 @ 132.8

Then hit it with a 250 shot 92/41
Guess what, 10.12 @ 132.5

Is the plate maxed out?
Would I be better taking out spray bar and putting in (2) foggers?

Here are some things to check:

Do you have access to a wide band O2 to see what the AFR is doing? It should be in the high 11 range for nitrous & high 12 range for normally aspirated. It appears that the nitrous is adding only about 105 hp, calculated from the mph:

hp = wt [(trap speed / 224.8)^3] (I assumed a weight of 3500 lbs)
hp @ 125.8 mph = 585 hp
hp @ 132.9 mph = 690 hp

You may want to also verify that the pressures are high enough after the fuel & nitrous solenoids:

Tee in a fuel pressure gauge at the outlet of the fuel solenoid (Also, you should have a pressure cut out switch for the nitrous solenoid teed in after the fuel solenoid).

Tee in a nitrous pressure gauge after the nitrous solenoid (the nitrous filter should be up stream from the nitrous solenoid).

Which trans are you using?? I can't believe that 10 bolt has lasted for you! I busted the pinon gear in mine & went to a Moser 9" & a Richmond 6 spd....

Well assuming perfect case scenario,
My guess on the days I run it I would have trapped 123/124
basing off 2500 da. I would have HP at 525 un corrented @ 3450 lbs.
Then with the spray 645 so, even then only 120 hp.

I am sure I could rig some pressure guages after the selinoids, But you would think just dead heading them like that would show nothing. There would have to be an awful big restriction.
Maybe do a fuel flow test like gpm test.

I am using 700r4 still for trans,
As for the 10 bolt, it has treated me well for years now, lots of street miles along with lots of track times.
It has been in car since I bought it in 2000 , been racing it since and running high 10s for last three seasons.

The strange thing is, my car 60 fts faster than it should vs. et.
it has pulled 1.42s best natural running 10.89 and it still lasted.
I may try to get a hold of an 8.8 this winter.

Not promoting the 10 bolt, I have been very lucky.

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like my luck with my 10 bolt. I have numerous 1.5 60' times on mine. I did end up putting in a moser 9" though. What cam and heads are you running in your 406? I saw the 242 duration in your sig. Mine is 241 and .559 lift.

If you are using the small solenoids that come with the 5151 kit, they are likely the reason. They max out about 175 hp or so. Jesse at NOS told me this.

Yeah my 10 bolt has been nice to me, Best 60ft was 1.38 with.
Drove car 6hrs to MIR for the day.

242/242 .575/575 on 112 LSA installed @ 108 icl.
Using AFR 195s

Well I am using old Carb cheater plate solenoids, and you have a good point but even still as Tim mentioned I was only getting 120 ish.

I don't think it was a fuel problem though, as my best pass previous week was with 73 n2 and 40 fuel jets (Recomended 35s) and car blew lots of rich smoke down track.
Funny thing is, that was best pass of all really rich on pump gas.

There is a guy on corvette forum that runs a 250 shot using that plate, but he says you have to run #6 line from the bottle and #4 from the solenoids to the plate. If I ever get my car running again, I'll tell you how well it works.

Hmm,
That may be a problem? My line from bottle is #3 from cheater kit that I used to build it......
I am going to call n.o.s. tomorrow and hopefully get scoop.

Ok,
Just got off phone with NOS tech - He said that the #-3 line is deffinetly a problem. I am guessing the stock 5151 come with # -4 line?

Confirmed - The line from the bottle in the 5151 kit is 4AN.
