Intercooler efficency on a 87 Firebird?

I'm in the midst of installing a twin-garrett setup. After looking at a Firebird front end. Is there enough "quality" airflow to make an intercooler worthwhile?
Just reading Corky Bells "Maximum Boost", he said allot of times a poor designed intercooler is worse than none at-all.
What is a better choice for a Firebird, intercooler or quality meth/H2O injection setup? they are both about the same $$$.

A good aftermarket IC will run about 2x to 3x what an H2O/meth. setup would cost.

For the track a meth/H2O injection works great because you prepair the car for each race. ( or at least check level ).

On the street I would use an intercooler.
