Deisel Turbo
Ok, this junk yard turbo thing is starting to get tedious. I live in a crappy location for good used parts. I want to set up a rear mount turbo on my car and i dont know what kind of turbo to look for. I want to run around 5psi on teh street and have an electronic waste gate for to bump it to 13psi. I was thinking maybe the turbo of from like a 5.9 cummings deisel? Any suggestions would be great.

Who makes the electronic wastegate that you plan on using?
Since you are looking for junkyard stuff you can't really be too choosy. A 5.9 cummins would work but there are better choices. Check out www.turbomustangs.com. Do a search for Holset H2D and you will find a guy that runs a LT1 with it RMT style......or did anyway. I think he changed it because it chewed a wheel. You will find more turbo info there than you will here from what I have seen. Both boards have great fab info though.
I started getting into turbo stuff in the Spring of last year. I spent a fair amount of time looking up stuff on the web. This site and turbomustangs have some of the best info out there. There are a few great personal sites too. Did you search this board for RMT yet? If not, that is a great place to start.
Can you get race gas in that crappy location? You might need it with 13psi.

Thanks for the site link. Hahaha race gas what is that.... i suppose if tried hard enough and went to a dirt track race or something i could get some boot legged ****... Check out Oxford Ny 13830 on map quest... that should put ya about square in teh middle of nothing. I only have 7.5:1 static compression right now and teh 13psi would only be for the track, that i can drive a an hour and half or more to....

Well, I guess you can get away with pump gas if you use a alcohol-water injection with a MSD BTM with a aggresive timing curb like I did. I treat mine to 110 or 100LL aviation gas from time to time and get away with using 93 octane with 13 lbs of boost
and 9:1 compression. It all depends on your a/f and your timing.
Back to the post, just look around on the turbomustangs and junkyardturbo.com for more info on sizing the rear mounted turbo.
Are you going Fuel Injection or are you Carb like me?
Best advice I can give you is do it for sure! Its awesome to see boosted muscle! Hope that inspires you.
You will get more power than you expected. It will blow your mind

Oh, by electronic wastegate I think he means a electric boost controller, like the greddy one
and 9:1 compression. It all depends on your a/f and your timing.

haha yes by wastegate i did mean boost controller..
guess i should proof read these posts. I still want to boost my car no matter what sets me back becuase all i ever hear about around here is big blocks, or **** burners. not that either are bad, its just i want something unique that will SUPRISE the **** out both groups. I have a freind who has a 72 Monte with a 496 and he hates the fact that i have fuel injection let alone a turbo, so i am determined to beat him down the quarter with my boosted car. Im not in a big rush to get the turbo motor done, becuase its my second 350 that i own, and i have one making around 400 crank right now, which will suffice... Due to the setbacks, i think im just gonna get my driveline bullet proof this summer and start the RMT build up this winter... well see where the chips fall.
