well some know of the blown engine that is getting dropped in soon. for giggles i called two carb companies and they insist on me buying a blown through carb for my 142 blower. power valve this, nightmares that. i have seen normal carbs on a setup like mine and run fine. also they tell me that a 725 is too big of carb on my engine, when i ran it on my n/a setup fine. according to their specs based on engines they say to run real low like 625 and lower. i am little confused on this whole carb thing. i say jet up my carb 4 on pri's and 6/7 on sec's and try it. how do you guys feel about this whole thing. i need some input on this topic please..

Those meats are confused! They must not know what a 142 is.The small carbs are for blow through so you can get a good signal and the blower shoves in all the air it needs so being small works good.On draw through you need a bigger carb since the carb becomes a restriction. When my friend installed his 8-71 he called Dyers and they told him a boost referenced power valve on a draw through was a BS selling point.

 

thanks man. you see, this is the right stuff i want to hear. all the car shows i go to and see these roots blower sticking out of the cars don't have boost ref carbs. i even told the tech guy that it is a roots style huffer on top. then he asked what intake i have... uh.hello?? i am sure that they have THEIR reasons of these, but come on... thanks mike
